Guest guest
Remember that the walk with the elephants is tonight. This means after the last performance, we will walk along side the elephants as they are made to walk from the Will Rogers Coliseum back to the railroad cars. The elephants don't want to go back to the railroad cars as being trapped in these cars is a horrible and never ending experience for them that they dread. So, sometimes they balk. When they balk, they are subject to abuse by their handlers, who could electric shock them, twist their tail, or strike them with a bullhook or some other weapon. We can prevent that abuse by being there as eye witnesses. It is very important for us to do this walk for that reason. The more of us there are, the better we are at deterring this abuse. The handlers tend not to abuse the animals when there are many animal advocates watching. If you have a night vision video or camcorder, bring it, please. Please wear sturdy walking shoes. We move pretty fast when we walk with the elephants. Just to be sure no one has a misimpression of what "sturdy" shoe means, it means no sandals, nice flats or open toe shoes of any kind. Your shoe must allow you to comfortably walk fast over sometime uneven surfaces for a distance. A good athletic shoe with socks is best. See you at the Shrine Circus leafleting tonight. This is our final chance to speak for these poor, abused animals. Margaret Be a better sports nut! Let your teams follow you with Mobile. Try it now.
