Guest guest
International Animal Rights Day - Dec 10, 2007The 10th International Animal Rights Day (IARD) will take place on December 10 2007 calling for the recognition of a Universal Declaration of Animal Rights (UDAR).I am asking each and every DFW animal advocate to make at least one outreach action to call attention to the daily suffering of animals in factory farms, laboratories, rodeos, circuses or fur farms. Such actions could be:-- Go to a public street corner, college campus or other public place and leaflet for AR for at least 30 minutes. As long as you aren't blocking sidewalks or harassing anyone, it's perfectly legal and a protected right under the US Constitution. --Wear an AR t-shirt and go shopping for a long time. Make sure everyone you pass sees it and hand a flier to anyone who asks you about your shirt.--Ask your co-worker or non-veg family member to lunch at a vegetarian restaurant and enjoy compassionate cuisine. -- Write a letter to your local newspaper's letter to the editor about any current AR topic. I publish such topics all the time on VegNod's , so look back over messages from the last two or three days if you need an idea. There are many local opportunities to spotlight abuse, such the pig slaughterhouse in Collin County, Garland Animal Control's continued barbaric use of gassing to euthanize animals, or an animal related article in the newspaper. Also, the plight of the poor lion trapped in Allen and being stalked by AAC is a good recent story to write about. -- Order Dominion by Matthew Scully for three of your closest friends and your clergy person and give each the book as a Christmas present. Donate a copy to the public library while you are at it. --Take CVA literature to your local library or bookstore and ask to display in the community leaflet section. Very few people in Dallas will turn away a leaflet with Jesus on the cover. The point is, Do Something For Animals on December 10th. This is a day we put our money where our mouth is. Call attention to animal suffering at the hand of man and what we can and must do to eliminate that suffering. Do not let the sun go down on Monday without taking some direct action! Please post on what action you took for the animals on Monday, December 10th.For more information on this important commemoration, go to: http://www.uncaged.co.uk/iard10.htm Thank you.
