The combined organization, Born Free USA United with Animal Protection Institute, will turn the spotlight on the suffering and exploitation of wild animals as never before, paving the road towards historic progress on behalf of animals in need. Utilizing our vast array of resources and talents in animal advocacy and wildlife conservation, Born Free USA United with Animal Protection Institute will now focus the determined efforts of our Sacramento, CA and Washington, DC teams on four main animal cruelty and wildlife protection issues: preventing the keeping of exotic pets; ending the abuse of animals by the entertainment industry; controlling international wildlife

trade; and abolishing trapping and the use of fur in fashion. In addition, we will maintain and enhance our long-standing commitment to the residents of our Texas-based primate sanctuary — and continue the groundbreaking and life-saving work of rescuing individual primates and providing them with lifelong care in as natural an environment as possible. New CEO Will Travers, Chief Executive of Born Free USA and of the UK-based Born Free Foundation, has taken the helm as CEO of the newly combined Born Free USA United with Animal Protection Institute. Will has dedicated most of his life to wildlife issues since living as a child in Kenya while his parents, actors Virginia McKenna and Bill Travers, made the classic wildlife film Born Free (1966). In 1984, he co-founded the UK-based wildlife charity, The Born Free Foundation. Will is a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society, a founder member of the Captive Wild Animals Protection Coalition, and a member of the IUCN (World Conservation Union) Species Survival Commission Reintroduction Specialist

Group. Since 1996, Will has been President of the Species Survival Network, an international coalition of organizations committed to the promotion, enhancement and strict enforcement of the United Nations’ Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). Through scientific and legal research, education and advocacy, the SSN is working to prevent over-exploitation of animals and plants due to international trade. Will has also helped Born Free develop a unique community conservation initiative called Global Friends which seeks to deliver benefits to communities in developing
