Ask the FTC to Clamp Down on Mars' Lies! Dear Margaret, Despite the fact that candymaker Mars, Inc., has funded unnecessary and deadly studies on mice, rats, rabbits, and guinea pigs and is currently funding an experiment on rats at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF), the company continues to deceive consumers regarding its animal-testing policy. Don't buy Mars' lies! Please politely contact the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and urge it to investigate Mars' deceitful claims. In addition to funding a test

at UCSF that involves force-feeding rats by shoving plastic tubes down their throats, cutting open the rats' legs to expose an artery, and then clamping the artery shut to block blood flow before finally killing the animals, Mars has also funded the following experiments: Mice were fed a candy ingredient and then forced to swim in a pool of paint and water. The mice had to find a hidden platform to try to avoid drowning, only to be killed and cut up later. Rabbits were forced to eat high-cholesterol diets, and then experimenters cut and examined the primary blood vessels to their hearts. Experimenters surgically attached plastic tubes to guinea pigs' arteries and injected cocoa ingredients into their jugular veins to induce dramatic decreases in blood pressure. Mars' advertised policy does not provide an accurate account of how the company treats animals. Consumers have the right to know what they are buying, and Mars is

misleading people into supporting its cruel and unnecessary tests on animals. Please visit MarsCandyKills.com to send a letter urging the FTC to investigate Mars' lies. Thank you for everything you do for animals! Sincerely, Jason UllmanAnti-Vivisection CampaignerJasonU Visit the web address below to tell your friends about this. Tell-a-friend!
