Guest guest
Whoooo hooooooo! Yeah! Release and Restitution for Chimpanzees in U.S. Laboratories Project R & R reported to you last week that the House and Senate had passed the "Chimp Haven is Home Act" and that it awaited President Bush's signature. The bill was signed into law yesterday by the President, prohibiting all "retired" chimpanzees in federal sanctuary from ever being returned to research. Finally, the original intent of the 2000 CHIMP Act -- to provide permanent protection from research -- has been realized. Thank you again to all of our supporters who wrote letters and made calls to their legislators asking for their support of this important legislation. As we move into 2008, we look forward to continuing our shared efforts on behalf of all chimpanzees who remain in U.S. laboratories.
