This is OUTRAGEOUS! HSUS is ALWAYS advocating "responsible breeders" when the term is an oxymoron - NO SUCH THING!!!!!!! Petfinder.com is where people can find their breed of choice if they want to adopt a purebred dog. In fact, while pet stores and commercial breeders are offering up so many new puppies, Virginia shelters are euthanizing more than 40,000 dogs a year for lack of homes. Pet stores also support a form of cruelty known as puppy mills, mass breeding facilities where dogs are crowded into cages and puppies are churned out in vast quantities, with little regard for their health or wellbeing. The puppies are then sold

through pet stores, classified ads or over the Internet. The parent dogs at these mills are confined to cages for their entire lives. When purchasing a puppy, consumers should focus on more that just the price tag. They should consider whether their purchase may be supporting a cruel industry such as a puppy mill, or contributing to the vast problem of pet overpopulation in Virginia.
