This message has been distributed to the Texas Department of State Health Services Region 2/3 stakeholders for whom I have E-mail addresses and Zoonosis Control personnel worldwide. I wanted to share an article from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram newspaper. It could soon be illegal to chain or tether a dog in Fort Worth , except in limited circumstances, an idea that is gaining momentum in many areas of the state. On the Same subject, Fred Sanderson the Supervisor of Irving Animal Control sent a link on an informational anti tethering website that may be of interest to you; http://www.unchainyourdog.org/Facts.htm He mentioned the site had a very good power point presentation that presents the anti tethering position very well. Fred allowed me to attach and share a copy of the City of Irving ordinance, so we could see and read an actual ordinance on the books, currently enforced by a major Texas city . I have found this example very useful when presenting a new ordinance to city management. I hope you find the information of interest.
