Guest guest
Shameless Veal Farmer Propaganda Copied from: http://www.vealfarm.com/edu-resources/downloads/American%20Veal%20Brochure.pdf The Veal Producer: Committed to the Highest Standards Modern veal farms are family-run operations that provide a safe, clean andhealthy environment designed to produce a high-quality meat product inan ethical, humane manner. Veal farmers, also called veal producers, knowthat a clean environment, along with nutritious feed and tender loving care, will produce healthy animals. In turn, those animals produce a better foodproduct. The veal farmer gives personal attention and care to each calf atleast twice a day, usually around feeding time. That way loss of appetite orany other symptom of illness can be readily diagnosed and quickly treated. Veal housing is designed to keep calves safe, healthy and comfortable. Eachcalf is housed in an individual stall that partitions the animal only up to theshoulder level. Individual housing allows animals to receive their own feed, individual care and attention. Calves can comfortably lie down in naturalpositions, stand up, groom themselves and interact with neighbors. Mostimportantly, individual housing has been shown to help prevent the spreadof disease by limiting calf-to-calf contact while allowing socialization. Veal farmers also take advantage of modern technology and state-of-the-arttools and equipment to help provide a safe environment for calves andprotect the natural environment as well. Veal farmers closely monitor barnclimate by using computerized ventilation and heating systems that helpprovide a comfortable environment for the calves in both winter and summer.Modern ventilation systems allow fresh air to be circulated into the buildingand old air removed. In addition, most building are equipped with a back-upenergy source to power feed mixing equipment, ventilation and heating incase of a power outage. Veal farmers also use a complete waste managementsystem that not only maintains good animal health, but also preventsdegradation of water, soil, and air quality, and protects public health andthe environment. ----------------------------- And here's a link to a propaganda video called The Good Life, depicting the wonderful life on a veal farm. Guest guest
This is disgusting - killing babies. Whole Foods has a customer comments section - I was sickened when I read a reply by Whole Foods to a customer complaining that they sold veal, that veal is very much in demand and that it is humanely raised and killed. I wrote back in big bold letters to Whole Foods, how disappointed I am in them, there is NO SUCH THING AS humanely raising or killing animals and that these are babies who want to live. Delicious ideas to please the pickiest eaters. Watch the video on AOL Living.
