Guest guest
The City of Dallas Animal Shelter Commission has recommended a slate of excellent ordinance changes to help reduce the number of animals killed in the shelter - almost 100 companion animals are killed there every day!! The proposed changes include: mandatory spay & neuter, $500 breeder permit, anti-tethering, and animal limits. The American Kennel Club and other local breeder groups oppose these ordinance changes. This Wednesday, April 2nd, at around 9:00 a.m., several local activists will speak before the Dallas City Council in favor of the ordinance changes. If you can come to Dallas City Hall (Young Street and Marilla) in support, that would be terrific. Whether or not you can come (and whether you live in or work in or just visit Dallas), please take the time to call the mayor and members of the City Council in support of the proposed changes. Telephone numbers are below. Phone calls and written letters, rather than e-mails, are recommended. Further contact information is available at www.dallascityhall.com. The council needs to hear your voice. Don't let the breeders win this one! Thanks for your help! TOM LEPPERT, MAYOR 214/670-4054 DR. ELBA GARCIA, MAYOR PRO TEM -- Place 1 214/670-4052 DWAINE R.
