I am studying for my history final(s) this week and I ran across this

quote from William Lloyd Garrison, one of the few respectable white

people prior to the Civil War who believed in equality for all races

not just the ending of slavery. He was, and is a rare gem in United

States history.

" I am aware, that many object to the severity of my language; but is

there not cause for severity? I will be as harsh as truth, and as

uncompromising as justice. On this subject, I do not wish to think, or

speak, or write, with moderation. No! no! Tell a man whose house is on

fire, to give a moderate alarm; tell him to moderately rescue his wife

from the hand of the ravisher; tell the mother to gradually extricate

her babe from the fire into which it has fallen; -- but urge me not to

use moderation in a cause like the present. I am in earnest -- I will

not equivocate -- I will not excuse -- I will not retreat a single

inch -- AND I WILL BE HEARD. "

This was written in January 1, 1831. Any way, I hope it inspires all

of you who believe in animal and human liberation not just another

form of slavery for our benefit as Americans and as human beings.

We are making history by standing up for what is right even if we feel

are losing, minds are being changed every day. Keep fighting the good

fight!

In solidarity with all who suffer,
