D/FW Animal Rights held an educational demonstration in front of the Dallas Zoo today to speak for Jenny, the lonely elephant held prisoner there. Jenny is alone and depressed after the death last week of her only elephant companion. We asked the Zoo to immediately transfer Jenny to a sanctuary, where she will be able to wander for miles each day (as is her nature) surrounded by others of her sensitive species and not isolated, depressed, and imprisoned for life for committing no crime. Our demonstration, organized by Vegetarian Network of Dallas and supported supported by PETA and also In Defense of Animals, was the most successful media event in D/FW animal rights history. Channel 8 (WFAA), Channel 4 (FOX), Channel 33 (CB), Channel 21 (Univision), and the Dallas Morning News covered demonstration. Watch coverage on Friday, May 16th at 5 PM, 6 PM, 9 PM, and 10 PM news, although I am sorry that I can not tell you on what channel at which time. SINCERE APPRECIATION to each of the twelve wonderful human animals, who took time off work to show up and speak for Jenny. You made a difference and I can not thank you enough. Although everyone participating was just wonderful and each contributed strongly and in his or her own way, special mention goes to Elexes for speaking to the Spanish language station and to Grace B ("Lovie" music group) and Mr. Buchanan, who took turns wearing a elephant costume. Remember: Vegetarian Network of Dallas will again ask you to demonstrate for elephants (and other animals) at the Ringling Circus this summer and the Shrine Circus in the Fall.Margaret MorinVegetarian Network of DallasJoin: /*****************************************URGENT ACTION NEEDED!!!!!ELEPHANT JENNY MUST NOT BE KEPT AN ISOLATED PRISONER, FORCED TO GRIEVE ALONE!We must speak out for JENNY, the lonely elephant left all by herself at the Dallas Zoo following the death of her only friend and companion! Please take thirty minutes or an hour out of your day to urge the Dallas Zoo to keep Jenny's best interests in mind by sending her to a sanctuary NOW. What: Educational Demonstration at the Dallas ZooWhen: Friday, May 16, 12 Noon -1 P.M.Where: Dallas Zoo, 650 South R.L. Thornton

Fwy, DallasNote: Posters & leaflets will be provided by Vegetarian Network of DallasBackground: Following the death of KeKe, a wild-caught elephant held prisoner for life at the Dallas Zoo, the D/FW Animal Rights Community must push for the zoo's sole remaining elephant, Jenny, to be immediately sent to a sanctuary. In a sanctuary, Jenny will be able to grieve the loss of her friend properly with the support of others of her sensitive species and have the chance to interact and build relationships with other rescued elephants. Animals captured in the wild for zoos are torn away from their mothers and forced into a life that deprives them of all their basic needs, like proper social interaction and adequate exercise-often leading to a premature death. We are looking for an activists to wear an elephant costume. If you are able to help with this or have any questions, prior to the demonstration, please contact Vegetarian Network of Dallas educational demonstration coordinator Margaret Morin at 972-578-0370 or by email at dogs_good. Between 11 AM and 1 PM ONLY on Friday, May 16, reach Margaret at 972 571 9603. CROSS POST WIDELY.Thank you for everything that you do for animals.Margaret
