Whether you own a pit or not, just imagine if it were your dog they were coming for, Imagine it was your dog that you've had for 2, 5. 10 years....or even 2, 5, 10 mos, Babies and seniors it won't matter.. if your dog looks like a pit they will come in and search your home and take your dog. **It is extremely important for everyone to be polite and respectful to the Ohio representatives. The more negative correspondence you send, the more negative an outcome you might elicit. However, this also includes correspondence to each other. The words we use in our posts incite a reaction in people. Everyone needs to be calm, well spoken, articulate and NICE.

 

Ohio residents need to contact their representatives and voice their opposition to this bill. The bill has already gone to committee. Jan is in the process of getting put up on www.paws4laws.com to make the letter writing very easy for everyone.

 

I am personally encouraging all Ohio residents to join Canine Advocates of Ohio. Shana Klein is the founder and is very well spoken and educated on breed specific legislation. Everyone needs to stick together, and joining in one group is a good way to do that.

Do you think such a ban won't affect you because you don't have a pitbull? All it would take is for some dummy to think a lab looks like a pit or etc etc. And then next on the list will be the rotties...Furthermo re, another personal right to our homes and property is being endangered. By the way, in Cincinnati, some months ago some individuals were convicted - GUILTY - of dog fighting and all they got was probation - the prosecutor and judge failed the dogs in that case as well as all of us citizens. Now in Cincinnati they are also trying to ban pits. This is over the edge what happen to our freedom???? They can come in your house if they even think you have a pit bull. Most people don't even know what a pit bull looks like (don't piss off your neighbor or all of a sudden your boxer x is now a pit bull x), all different breeds will be targeted as pits or pit bull type dogs. What ever happen to do process!!!!! !!!!!!!!! !! I don't worry about my pit biting someone but I do with my border collie. The Bill requires all owners to surrender their "pit bulls" within 90 days of the effective date of the proposed law. The Bill provides that the dog warden "shall" euthanize all pit bulls within 10 days of their surrender. In addition, a dog warden or other officer that has probable cause to believe that a dog is a "pit bull," may apply for a search warrant. With a search warrant, an officer will have the authority to seize the dog and surrender the dog to the dog warden to be killed.
