The New York Times’ editorial board published a scathing condemnation of factory farming last weekend entitled “The Worst Way of Farming.†Calling it “animal abuse,†the editorial goes on to assert that “industrial animal production is an illusion, made possible by cheap grain, cheap water and prisonlike confinement systems.â€

Wayne Pacelle has a good op-ed in the California Progress Report this week about the California ballot measure that concludes, “Reducing the immense suffering that factory farming inflicts on animals is simply a matter of common decency.â€

In the wake of HSUS’ new investigation into livestock auctions, the owner of a Maryland auction is facing state charges and the Maryland department of agriculture strengthened its policy on downer cows.

Finally, the whole world knows that Oprah is going vegan for 21 days. Vegan.com has a ton of info on this that’s worth forwarding to friends who are Oprah fans.
