Guest guest Posted June 29, 2008 Report Share Posted June 29, 2008 Dear Mayor Leppert, I am APPALLED at the decision to send Jenny to a cruel Mexican zoo. Mexico has no animal protection laws. She will be WORSE off than she is in Dallas! Maybe you did't realize that. Or maybe the zoo is greedy. I think the latter applies most accurately. The two elephant sanctuaries offered to take her. Doesn't she deserve a retirement of being in a natural setting, with thousands of acres to roam with other elephants? Hasn't she " done her time " in a prison? Please, please rethink your decision to send her to a life of hell. Show some compassion. You were progressive enought to pass a contraversial law to protect dogs and cats, why should an even more intelligent and social animal be left out? Money is always the bottom line, isn't it?
