Guest guest
Here is a brief summary of today's Concerned Citizens for Jenny rally at the Dallas Zoo today. I am really tired so I will give a better report later. Many media outlets covered our overwhelmingly successful Concerned Citizens for Jenny (CCFJ) rally today. Watch the news on Channel's 5, 8, 11 (these stations that definitely covered) and possibly Channel 4 (I'm not sure if I spoke to 4 or not, but they called me Friday and told me they were coming so they might have been there and just didn't have a card). DMN and an Hispanic station was also there and interviewed me, also. DMN has a short article on-line today, but I expect a longer article tomorrow. Unfortunately, the DMN photographer didn't show up until long after the rally was over, so they got only photographs of a few of us who waited. Radio station 88.5, The Pegasus On-line News, and Lakeworth online news did stories, also. There was one or two other reporters there, but not everyone had a business card so it was hard to keep track.I'll write more later, but CCFJ rally was extremely successful. More than 200 Jenny advocates participated, held sign, our beautiful Save Jenny banner, and distributed fliers. We handed out a ton of fliers! There was so much positive energy in the crowd and despite it being hot, everyone had a really good time. Cars drove by and honked and waved. The freeway came to a virtual standstill. I told everyone in the media the truth . . . that our CCFJ rally was a local DFW grass rotes citizens effort. And, we are not extremists. We are just D/FW citizens who care about Jenny and do not want her to go to a "drive-thru" tourist attraction in Mexico where she will be exposed to cars and trucks driving up to her day and night (the Mexican facility is open at night). Jenny is terrified of cars and becomes very depressed when she sees a single car. Her life with be misery with a constant stream of cars. It is my hope that the media could see from the make-up of the crowd, that we were a good representation of the Zoo's core constituencies. We had older people in wheelchairs, young kids, families, and adults of all ages. Everyone was nicely dressed and well spoken. Angela Hunts' husband came as Ms. Hunt was out of town. As you may recall, Ms. Hunt is the lone Dallas City Council person who made the effort to visit the drive-thru tourist attraction in Mexico and The Elephant Sanctuary in TN and has since supported Jenny being transferred to TES. Voters should remember this in the next election and call her office on Monday and thank her. Please be sure to contact each of the stations, who runs the story (but confirm Channel 4 has run the story before you contact them). Also, check out the five LTE and photo of Jenny that the DMN published in a display box in the Points section today (Sunday). We must keep the momentum going. Please call the Mayor and City Council on Monday and urge them to send Jenny to TES and to hold a public hearing on Jenny's plight. Thank you so much to each and every person who came to the rally today. You are making a difference for Jenny. Keep it up!Margaretwww.concernedcitizensforjenny.net
