Dear Mayor Leppert and Dallas City Council, Concerned Citizens for Jenny ask that the Zoo and the City of Dallas send Jenny to The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee, a world-renowned refuge that can give her the special care she needs. Jenny is a high-risk elephant and the Dallas Zoo wants to ship her to one of the most inappropriate places possible. In Mexico, Jenny will be exposed to the same stress that caused her crippling depression and self-mutilation in the past. This is an elephant, who would not eat or drink for days after fire trucks were parked near her exhibit, yet the Zoo wants to send her to a place where cars and bus-loads of tourists pass day and night. This is inherently cruel as Jenny is frightened of motorized vehicles. The Zoo's decision makes no sense and is the wrong thing for Jenny. Once out of the county, Jenny will lose the protection of U.S. animal

welfare and anti-cruelty laws. Zoo accreditation is not enough to protect Jenny. A.Z.A. standards are weak and compliance is voluntary. The USDA has cited and fined A.Z.A. zoos for abusing elephants, demonstrating the indispensable need for independent oversight. The Dallas Morning News admitted in last Saturday's paper that although they have received a massive amount of mail about Jenny, not one letter supported the Zoo's decision. Every letter advocated for Jenny to be retired to The Elephant Sanctuary. The citizens of Dallas are against sending Jenny to Mexico. Please reverse the Zoo's decision and retire Jenny to The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee. If you go to Fox News immediately and before the video is taken down, you will be able to view Concerned Citizens for Jenny debate the Dallas Zoo on the national news. I thought you might like to see how the City of Dallas is

being perceived by the nation. http://www.foxnews.com/americasnewsroom/index.htmlI welcome your contacting me as I would be happy to discuss this matter further. Thank you for your consideration of these points.Margaret MorinFounder, Concerned Citizens for Jennywww.concernedcitizensforjenny.net
