Guest guest
Good Morning, Jenny supporters, dedicated to retiring Jenny to The Elephant Sanctuary, packed the City Council meeting room on Wednesday last. We need far more people to do the same next Wednesday as the room is larger. Mark your calendars now to attend Wednesday, August 13 in the afternoon (after Noon). Please bring a friend with you (children okay, but they get tired, so come prepared). I hope to have a more specific time for you in the next day or two. Volunteers are needed at City Council meetings for the following: -- Help organize, i.e ushers, sticker distributers, sign-in people, etc. Contact Catherine Chang ASAP if you are able to volunteer in this key role: E-mail, cathonline Or (817)821-5563 -- Speakers who are resolute about sending Jenny to The Elephant Sanctuary at City Council meetings. Contact Tanja Pattist for Speaker Sign-up: E-mail, Tanja.Pattist Or (972)898-3156 I will distribute more complete information on volunteer opportunities later. Jaime Benefield and Holly Elms are coordinating presentations. If you are a speaker, I will put you in touch with them. My contact information is under my signature (below) in this email, if you need to speak to me personally. I'll do my best to get back with you, although I have gotten 1500 emails in the last month on Jenny. Please remember that Jenny needs your continued calls and emails to the Dallas Mayor and City Council to urge them to retire Jenny to The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee (we want to talk to the decision makers at the City only, not the Zoo). For Mayor/City Council contact information, go to www.concernedcitizensforjenny.net . Thanks to Holly Elms and Tanja Pettist, Concerned Citizens for Jenny's wonderful members, for compiling the below partial list of this week's media on Jenny. Thank you. Previously, you could only comment under blog posts. This could be a great additional opportunity to get the word out about Jenny's plight. Here's the info: http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/longterm/stories/080708dnltspluckintro.239d3b25.html I would encourage all of you, anytime you comment on a Jenny story or blog posting, to reference ConcernedCitizensforJenny.net and give the Mayor's phone number. Here's yesterday's story by Joanna Cattanach. Please comment! Story comments will be much more widely read than blog comments. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/080708dnmetjenny.1d13a6b7.html Feel free to crosspost! -Holly --- On Thu, 8/7/08, Holly Elms <h_elms wrote: Additional coverage below, under Tanja's links: KTVT 11 http://cbs11tv.com/pets/jenny.the.elephant.2.789449.html WFAA 8 http://www.wfaa.com/sharedcontent/dws/wfaa/latestnews/stories/wfaa080806_lj_jenny.1e6f0ec9.html KDFW 4 http://www.myfoxdfw.com/myfox/pages/News/Detail?contentId=7151707 & version=1 & locale=EN-US & layoutCode=VSTY & pageId=3.2.1 KERA http://publicbroadcasting.net/kera/news/content/1335025.html ************************************* DMN Online http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/080708dnmetjenny.1d13a6b7.html MIX 102.9 Morning Mix Radio Show (photos) http://www.mix1029.com/pages/morningmix/ Pegasus News (this one seems a bit premature) http://www.pegasusnews.com/news/2008/aug/07/jenny-elephant-may-stay-american-citizen/ DMN City Hall blog (Dave Levinthal) http://cityhallblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2008/08/jenny-the-elephant-has-folks-t.html DMN Metro blog (James Ragland) http://metrocolumnistsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2008/08/jenny-the-elephant-the-politic.html and, last but not least ...
