DALLAS CITY COUNCIL MEETING TO SAVE JENNY

 

Please attend each Wednesday's City Council meetings. The City is planning to ship Jenny the Dallas Zoo elephant to Mexico the first part of October, so we have very little time to save her. We urge you to attend as many of the next 5 or 6 City Council meetings as you possibly can to advocate for her retirement to The Elephant Sanctuary.

 

This is a psychologically pivotal moment. We must take advantage of it by having as many of us present as possible. Jenny supporters attendence at City Council meetings is having a tremedous effect. Your specific presence will matter to Jenny!

 

Why: We must show overwhelming community support for retiring Jenny to the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee. Our attendence at City Council is getting their attention. If attendence dwindles, that will get their attention, also. Please do not let that happen.

 

What: Dallas City Council Briefing

 

When: Wednesday, August 20 at 2 P.M. (until about 4:30 or 5 P.M.)

Parking:

-- Metered parking behind City Hall on Marilla Street.

-- Private paid parking garages on Marilla, Young and Irving Streets.

-- Metered parking in the circular drive directly outside of City Hall

 

Stickers: A CCFJ volunteer will give you a large "Save Jenny" sticker to put on your shirt when you step off the elevator to identify you as a Jenny supporter. A volunteer will show you to our block of seats.

 

 

CCFJ Volunteers are needed in these important roles:

 

Project coordination: Need reliable professionals, who will follow through and complete work to which s/he commits. Work anywhere from one to four hours a week (or as much as you want) from her or his own home to organize and complete CCFJ projects, research and prepare evidence, make telephone calls, etc.

 

At City Council meetings for the following:

-- Help organize Jenny Supporters, i.e ushers, sticker distributors, sign-in people. Contact Catherine Chang ASAP if you are able to volunteer in this key role at cathonline or 214-821-5563
