Dear Canine-loving Folks, this story will unfortunately make you sick, and then just plain angry. My friend Tacie is an attorney in San Marcos , she now represents this young couple. They had the misfortune of running into San Marcos PD Officer Paul Stephens while rushing their dying teacup poodle to the emergency vet one night. Officer Stephens is the type of mental coward every dog owner fears running into. He enjoyed holding them up long enough writing a speeding ticket until their poodle passed away in the car. You won't believe his comments caught on videotape (see link below). He was neither fired nor reprimanded, just made to attend counseling. This is a petition asking for his termination as a public servant. I represent good citizens every day arrested at the hands of overzealous cops just like this. The sad thing is, this officer is like this with most of the people he comes in contact with. He stopped a DPS employee and arrested her for DWI. The case was dismissed because of his abusive behavior documented on the tape. I ask one of the Prosecutors if they knew this officer. His response, "I hate that Mother Fucker!" I am working on getting permission to get copies of at least two of the DWI tapes where Officer Stephens was involved and the cases were dismissed---because of his behavior. This type of behavior is a pattern with some of the SMPD officers. Very scary. The San Marcos Police Department doesn't realize what is coming! We will be appearing on Oprah in two weeks. I would appreciate any advice or suggestions you have regarding the case.
