Guest guest
Please call or e-mail to halt the auction of a puppy by Tom Hicks Elementary School in Frisco. Here’s a link to the Hicks PTA newsletter boasting about the auction: http://www.lisd.net/schools/hicks/Howler_Oct08.pdf Let’s contact Lewisville ISD, the Lewisville ISD Council of PTAs, and the principal and auction chairs at Hicks Elementary School to POLITELY point out that auctioning a puppy is an insensitive and inhumane thing to do. Some people will be encouraged to bid on the puppy to support the school district, even if they are not proper guardians or otherwise wouldn’t want a puppy. This also encourages buying rather than adopting animals, even while the Lewisville shelter kills animals every day. Let’s encourage them instead to auction a donation in the name of Hicks Elementary School to the Humane Society of Lewisville, to support spay/neuter and other programs. The district can make a powerful positive statement about responsible animal protection to its students, staff, and parents while supporting the local humane society. Here is the contact information for Hicks Elementary principal Ann Beckel: Phone: (469) 713-5981 Fax: 972-350-9075 E-mail: beckela Hicks Elementary auction chairs for the event: Melissa Chaiken (Live Auction Chair) - melissachaiken Wendi Frank (Silent Auction Chair) - tw.frank Here is the contact information for Lewisville ISD: Phone: 469-713-5200 E-mail: molly E-mail for LISD Board of Trustees president Carol Kyer: kyerc The president of the Lewisville ISD Council of PTAs can be contacted at: Kris Vaughn President, LISD Council of PTAs president 214.513.8359 My suggestion: Send an e-mail with all six addresses in the address line, and call all three phone numbers. That will multiply the impact of our message. The most important persons to contact are those at Hicks Elementary – I suspect the LISD and Council of PTAs will say it’s their call. If you live in the LISD PLEASE mention that in your e-mails and calls. Thanks to Mary Steffenhagen for the heads up. Remember, POLITENESS wins the day! Please post or send to me any replies you get, so we can follow up appropriately. Thanks. John J.
