Jenny Supporters are encouraged to attend Dallas City Council Wednesday mornings to show we remain committed to retiring Jenny to The Elephant Sanctuary.

Jenny needs speakers for the Dallas City Council 3 minute open microphone. Please contact CCFJ Speaker's Coordinator Tanja Pattist at tanja.pattist to schedule your time to speak for Jenny.

Thanks very much.

Lily Tomlin to address Dallas City Council about Jenny the Elephant7:48 PM Fri, Oct 10, 2008 | PermalinkRudolph Bush E-mail News tips

Comedian and actress Lily Tomlin will be at City Hall Wednesday morning in hopes of persuading the Dallas City Council not to keep the zoo's last elephant here.

Ms. Tomlin, who is scheduled to be among the morning speakers, is expected to ask the council to send Jenny to a sanctuary in Tennessee.

Dallas officials decided in August that Jenny wasn't going anywhere, after they floated a plan to send her to a zoo in Mexico.

After Ms. Tomlin addresses the council, she is expected to show a brief public service announcement favoring moving Jenny to Tennessee.

On Thursday, she will meet privately with Mayor Tom Leppert, who has endorsed keeping Jenny here.

Normally, speakers before the council are limited to 3 minutes time. But word is there will be move to extend Ms. Tomlin's time.

Here's hoping she mixes in some jokes with the elephant business.
