Guest guest
Les Schobert, former director of the LA Zoo, renowned elephant advocate, and Jenny supporter, passed away last Tuesday after a short battle with bone cancer. Read Mr. Schobert's eloquent and impactful comments regarding Jenny in the NY Times by clicking on this link. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/15/us/15elephant.html?ref=todayspaper Think of Les and commit to going to Wednesday morning's Dallas City Council in his honor. Many will recall that Les Schobert addressed the Dallas Council and advocated for Jenny in August, 2008.Also, please contact Dallas Mayor, City Council, City Manager, and Parks and Recreation Director now and often advocating for Jenny's retirement to The Elephant Sanctuary NOW and bring in two disadvantaged elephants in when the new habitat is built. There are many such elephants currently in roadside zoos, traveling circuses, and in private hands to whom 4 acres would significantly improve their lot in life. Jenny has the opportunity to have 300 acres today, an option which not many elephants have. CCFJ remembers Less with gratitude and admiration for his dedication to elephants and for all he did for Jenny. Les Schobert will be missed.
