Thanks for letting me know my sister's donation arrived. We talked about how utterly hypocritical it is to continue to give each other gifts that we don't need when there is so much need in the world. I personally think that VO does the most to spread the message about how animals are treated. It's great to support shelters, but to do so just helps a handful of animals to escape their inevitable fate, whereas organizations such as yours are actually changing minds and hearts, as your messages from people receiving the literature attest to. Keep up the wonderful work. You're truly making the kind of change we need.

At John Jay College of Criminal Justice, this comment made my day: "I teach sociology here, and I got this booklet a few months ago when you were here. I read it and decided to make the change! I've been meat-free for 2 months now!" At LaGuardia Community College, one student came back to me after receiving a leaflet and said, "I got one of these 3 years ago and became a vegetarian!"

At Cal State Long Beach, the students were very receptive, and I had some good conversations. I met a professor who wanted 50 leaflets for her literature and activism class. It always feels good to have a passerby shout "Vegan Outreach! Yes!" Also had some good comments at CSU Northridge, including, "I just read this and I'm done with meat.Can I have an extra? My sister went vegetarian after reading one of these and I want to keep one on hand.I was on my way to get a hamburger, but reading this stopped me."

I read a small brochure I found next to my computer that probably belonged to my sister. The best choice of my life!

At Frostburg State, one young woman said, "I'm never eating meat again!" Later, a sympathetic young vegetarian told me that, thanks to the Even If You Like Meat, he convinced two of his friends to not eat meat at lunch today. At the University of Maryland, one man said that he has been vegetarian since getting a booklet on campus in January.

At Harold Washington College, I reached 300 students in a little over an hour. Talked to several interested in going veg*n and gave them the Guide. I also heard from at least 15 students who already are. One of these told me she went vegetarian three months ago as a result of receiving a booklet.

I was handed the booklet in Manhattan, and found it so amazing that I actually convinced my sister to go vegetarian.

At Portland State, I offered a girl and a guy an Even If as they walked by me. The girl said, "I'm already vegetarian," while the guy asked if he could have one. As soon as he took the booklet , he started making sounds ("awww,eww," etc.). He walked down the sidewalk, two feet behind his friend, completely engrossed in the booklet for as long as I could see. An older guy said he had received a copy in Seattle a few years ago. "It's awful," he said, and added, "That booklet is really effective."

At the University of Arizona, one gentleman stopped, put his hand on my arm, and said, "I got one when I went past before. Thank you." One woman in a group of five pointed at the proffered Compassionate Choices and said, "I just picked that up -- it made me cry! IT MADE ME CRY!"
