Guest guest
Some of our members may not know that the “official” debate about the healthfulness of vegetarian and vegan diets at all life stages is over, and we won. There are many resources to refute contrary claims, but you can always reference the 2003 position statement from ADA and Dietitians of Canada to address naysayers: http://www.eatright.org/adavegnp.pdf I encourage any of our members who have not gotten meat, fowl, fish, dairy products, and eggs out of their food choices to think about doing so. Whatever your motivation – ethical, environmental, health-related, or something else – make this your New Year resolution. Whether you take a gradual or all-at-once approach, give it a try. Food animals comprise at least 98% of all animals abused and killed in the U.S. Animal experimentation, drug and chemical testing, consumer product testing, and animal labs at all levels of education are each less than 1% of the number of animals confined and killed for food. Everything else we do pales in comparison to what we can do by refusing to eat animals and animal products. Many starter guides and other resources are available. PCRM is a good source for information: http://www.nutritionmd.org/index.html Vegetarian Starter Kit Checked by AVG.
