National Bird Day – Coming Soon!

Each year on National Bird Day (January 5), Born Free USA, in coordination with the Avian Welfare Coalition (AWC), calls on activists and bird lovers to unite and take action on behalf of captive and wild birds.

National Bird Day aims to educate consumers about the abuse of birds in the retail pet industry and the difficult reality of keeping birds as pets, as well as to expose the cruelty of the wild bird trade and the importance of keeping birds wild.

Born Free USA encourages bird lovers to get involved and help spread the "Think Outside the Cage" message by visiting www.nationalbirdday.org which includes several easy ways to help, including:

National Bird Day posters: 2 artfully designed "Think Outside the Cage" posters that can be displayed in schools, libraries, community centers, pet stores that do not sell live animals, and anywhere people can enjoy them. Free for teachers and educators — contact info or order 5 for just $2.50 in our online store.

FREE National Bird Day e-cards: 6 different e-cards to choose from. Send them to everyone you know!
