Don't miss taking part in the first ever DFW Spay Day event. It is a collective effort that will allow Metroplex Animal Coaltion Member Groups and supporters to work together to lower pet overpopulation in our community. On Sunday, April 26, several area veterinarians are donating their services, the SPCA of Texas is donating the use of its Village Fair Clinic and volunteers are donating their time to help us spay or neuter 100 dogs and cats! This is an excellent opportunity for MAC member groups to assist individuals you're aware of who have pets but cannot afford to sterilize them-those in West Dallas or South Oak Cliff or anywhere in the DFW

area who've contacted you asking for help. (Note that these will be pets belonging to the public and not those in a member group's adoption program.) We don't plan to publicize this event to the masses; we want all the animals that will be spayed or neutered that day to be referred by you. The pets can be brought to the clinic by your volunteers or by the owners themselves. Paperwork (including pet and owner information and surgical release form) will need to be completed and returned prior to the event. It can be forwarded via e-mail to the pet owner(s) or the member group to pass along to the owner. Dogs and cats 7 years of age and younger. Female dogs up to 50 lbs. and male dogs up to 80 lbs. are welcome. Young animals must be 2 pounds and 2 months old.

Space is available on a first-come, first-serve basis, and appointments must be made in advance prior to April 21. To make an appointment, email Susan Kilgore or call Feral Friends and leave a message at 972-671-0429.We know this will be a terrific event, but WE NEED YOUR HELP! In addition to surgery referrals, we need volunteers NOW to help with pre-event preparation, soliciting sponsorships, etc. And, of course, we'll need LOTS of volunteers on April 26 so things go smoothly. We'll have two shifts for each job assignment (7 a.m. - 1 p. m. or 1 p.m. - 6 p.m.). Refreshments and other goodies will be provided. As they say, there's no free lunch. But the cost for the surgery, rabies and distemper

vaccinations, and vet exam is a ridiculously low $42 per animal! We also need your help to cover the cost of the surgeries for owners who need financial help. This can be done by either by securing sponsors or by having your organization sign on as a Spay Day partner and sponsoring one or more surgeries. Covering the cost of even one surgery will make a huge difference! You can donate on-line or mail a check payable to Metroplex Animal Coalition, 8333 Douglas Avenue, Suite 1350, Dallas, Texas 75225 (with the notation - "Spay Day"). However you can help-financially or through volunteering or both-you'll get that warm and fuzzy feeling of knowing you helped prevent the birth-and probable death-of countless unwanted animals!DFW Spay Day CommitteeMetroplex Animal CoalitionOur Current
