The fact that the City of Garland (and a few other Texas shelters) still gas animals in its municipal animal shelter is the shame of Texas. It only continues if not enough people damand the end of this horrific practice.

If enough caring citizens politely, but emphatically objected to the cruel practice of gassing (in which animals die painfully) and urged a change, we could stop it. I encourage everyone, whether you live in Garland or not, to contact the City of Garland city manager, mayor and city council and urge elimination of gassing of animals in the custody of Garland Animal Services.

City of Garland Mayor and City Council Contact info may be found at:

City of Garland City Manager: cismith and 972-205-2465

I am not an advocate of on-line petitions as I don't believe they work and all too frequently give people a false sense they have done something effective when they have not and so take the place of real action, but I am passing this one along as a friend whom I like a lot asked me to. Please sign it only after you have contacted the City of Garland city manager, mayor and city council and politely stated your opinion that gassing of animals desist immediately.

Cross Post, Please.

Thanks very much.

Gassing Petition:

Most of you probably already know this put Garland Animal Services is one of the only municipal shelters in Texas that places animals in a gas chamber to euthanize them instead of lethal injection. It is a horrible way to die and is one of the reasons our efforts are focused on saving cats from this shelter. There is currently a petition going around to try and stop the gassing at all Texas shelters. I invite you to sign it and pass it on to everyone you know.

Thank you for all you do!
