UPDATE: Angela Hunt just told me that with considerable effort, she got the contract revised to include a whistle-blower clause, open records requirement to public for all animal records, and financial audit by city. At least that is something and Kudos to Angela without whom we would have nothing.

We know for a fact that ownership of the animals were transferred to the DZS despite what City Hall might be telling people who are calling.

Please continue to call and email City Council to urge that more needs to be done to strengthen the provisions for protection of the animals and urge regular publication of all animal veterinary records.

This should not have been rushed through like it was. It is a travesty of justice and an affront to the Citizens of Dallas. I am still trying to get a copy of the revised contract to see what really happened.

Please keep calling/emailing and voice your opinion on this matter and advocate for strong oversight being put in place for the animals welfare.

Please continue to call City Council and voice your concern about this bad deal for the animals and the citizens of Dallas.

Please urge the Dallas City Council to put strong protections in place for the animals (don't take it on trust that the Zoological Society will do the right thing). There is little to no protection in the proposed agreement for the animals.

And, very importantly, advocate for the insertion of a provision into the agreement for continued public records access so we can keep tabs on the animals. Otherwise, we will have no knowledge of what happens to the animals at the Zoo. Thank you. Margaret
