Hello, PETA Friends!

I'm e-mailing you today with an important request. We're not asking this of our entire membership because we're hoping to have our best and most reliable people's help with this task.

As you probably know, Brookstone has been unresponsive to thousands of pleas from concerned customers asking that it stop selling the cruel "Frog-O-Spheres." Frogs and snails are dying by the thousands, and corporate responsibility doesn't seem to apply to Brookstone's executives. Therefore, we have been coordinating with state and local authorities where Brookstone is selling these animals, but we need your help.

Are you able to go to the Brookstone store (or stores) near you to monitor and take photos of the frogs you see on store shelves? Information about the condition of the frogs on store shelves is vital at this point, as enforcement agencies need specific details about animals in their jurisdiction in order to intervene.

These inquisitive animals may be small, but they still suffer and feel pain, and they need our attention. PETA has received reports about frogs in stores who have been injured in transit, by rough handling by employees, and even by other frogs who share their tiny prisons. Whistleblowers are reporting that they are finding frogs with open wounds and exposed bones and frogs who are starving because of food-aggressive cellmates. There are certainly even more frogs out there in trouble, but we need accurate information about their location and condition so that we can take action as quickly as possible.

You can find the location of your nearest Brookstone outlets here: http://brookstone.findlocation.com/. Please know that it is legal to take photos, but if a staff member asks you to leave, you must.

Because we're eager to keep pressure on Brookstone and get the word out wherever possible, we are making an advanced copy of the leaflet for this campaign available to you. It is not available on PETA.org yet, but we have made it available here (http://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0BwWBpL66EX7NMjExYjM2ZmYtZGYxZC00NzYyLTgyYmEtMmI1ZDc4ZjQyYmFj & hl=en).

If you can, please print these out and leave them in coffee shops, on community billboards, and anywhere else so that people can learn why these exotic, wild animals do not belong in captivity in a few inches of water. We receive complaints daily from individuals who have misguidedly bought or received these frogs, so we hope that you can help prevent more purchases from being made.

NOTE TO CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS: Leafleting in malls in the state of California is legal. Will you please consider printing several copies of the leaflet to hand outside Brookstone locations there?

Please don't hesitate to contact PETA's animals in entertainment specialist, Desiree Acholla, who is copied on this e-mail, with any questions or for guidance. Any photos that you take can be sent to her directly at DesireeA. If you take pictures on a cell phone, most carriers allow rs to text picture messages straight to an e-mail address. They can be texted that way to DesireeA.

Thank you so much for your assistance with this important project and campaign and for all your support!

Best regards,

Erin
