Earn Tabling dollars for your favorite group!

That's right, the CVA will pay 2 people at each table $12.00 per hour This will be donated to any non-violent animal advocacy or vegetarian group of your choice. Your other helpers will be there with paid bus, bridge or parking receipts. You & your helpers will all receive a free T-shirt as well! And a complete tabling kit with a CVA table Cloth! After the event you can decide as a group where you want the dollars to be donated to, or splitting it is possible as well.

As we strive to search for and list tabling opportunities, we would appreciate it if you hear of any options in your area that might be conducive to our message (whether you can work the table or not and whether it is religious in origin or open to the general public), that you simply let us know. This would encompass Christian events, "Green Events", Farmers Markets, Festivals and Fairs, etc.

Donna and Bobby, who tabled at the El Paso Veggie Fare, write:

We enjoyed working at the Veggie Fare again this year. We had many good and positive conversations with a steady stream of people. One lady took a handful of brochures to distribute at her Russian Orthodox church. We were blessed by this opportunity to serve you at the Veggie Fare. We would be happy to do it again sometime.

Bill and Jone S were a great help, we each did the event twice and got people from different directions each time. The crowd was somewhat receptive to the brochure - most were unsure about what it was, though I did run into a few vegetarians and another woman who said she had a soft spot for animals. Another person said it was commendable what we were doing. And a few people told us 'God Bless You'. The crowd was especially very 'mob oriented' - usually each group of people followed the lead of the first person offered, and either everyone took one or no one took one.

One woman told me she was vegetarian for a year, but was anemic and she said she got too skinny, but she ran off before I could discuss any recommendations. The demographic was mostly older women, but I especially targeted the younger women. All in all, we distributed just over 2 boxes worth - 660 brochures in total!

REMINDERS:

Try to get someone else to leaflet with you, ideally, 3 or 4 people.After you arrive at the venue, split up. It is helpful to reach audiencesfrom different directions. Otherwise, you will miss a lot.HERE'S YOUR SHORT LIST OF THE MOST RECENT EVENTS!

***WHAT TO DO WHEN SECURITY SAYS:

"I'm sorry you cannot leaflet here".

Use your best judgment but read below and keep these thoughts and ordinances in mindâ€¦

Do you know that the US constitution gives us the right to leaflet even on private property? I would suggest you call the city and find out the parameters further. The US constitution clearly gives us a right to be able to leaflet, even if on private property.

Please check with your city and county ordinances. Even private property is negotiable.

"The right to free expression includes both leafleting and talking to patrons on privately owned property open to the public" Westside San/Freeze v. Ernest W. Hahn, Inc (1990) 224Cal.App.3d546; 274 Cal. Rptr. 51

"Free expression is protected on private property which is open to the public" Robins v. Pruneyard Shopping Ctr (1979) 23 Cal. 3d 899; 153 Cal. Rptr 854 592 P2d 341

Although these speak to California, law they are also upheld by the US constitution. BUT please check with your area ordinances. I am finding personally that security will say anything and when the issue is forced peacefully, of course, they back off.

"Peaceful Picketing or handbilling carried on in a location open generally to public is, absent other factors involving purpose or manner of the picketing, protected by the First Amendment." In Re Lane (1969) 79 Cal. Rptr> 729: 71 Cal.2d 872.

Re: Fairgrounds & Theme parks: Buy a ticket to the Fair or event to get inside the park. Then, and this is very important***GO HAVE FUN!*****An hour before the concert starts, (usually at a stage area), stand in line & /or discreetly canvas the line with the booklets and hand them out as usual. Usually before any security realizes you are there, you have already exhausted your supply. If you are asked to stop then do so. It is advisable to wear a backpack to put them in so that you are not carrying a box around all day.

Probably Jesus' followers felt profound sadness and anguish after the crucifixion of their Lord and Savior. However, they knew they couldn't sit down in despairâ€¦ they had a mission and there was no time to waste. As Christian Vegetarians, we also have a mission. This is what Dorothy Day has to say:"No one has a right to sit down and feel hopeless. There is too much work to do"

This is a weekly reminder to go to the CHRISTIAN VEGETARIAN ASSOCIATION CALENDAR GROUP and log in at: , and check the calendar for the latest events in your area.

Remember the CVA pays you $18.00 per hour, per person, that will be donated in your name, to a non-violent animal rights or vegetarian group of your choice! Just think how that could add up if all from your group participated! This can be donated to national groups or to your local small group.

Simply Log in. You will be at the "Home Page". Look at the column of options on the left. Go to "Calendar". (Look at the other options while you're at it!) You will see the entire month, but if you go to the "Search" window on the right of the calendar screen you can enter TN, OH, CA, (not the city) or whatever state you live in or will be visiting. Check the "in Titles" box and hit "GO". This will bring up all the words that have those 2 letters in them (that's why sometimes it will show other states too.) From there you can decide which events you are interested in. Click on the blue letters for more details. Confirm the dates and times at the website provided there, and then email me that you want to do it. Please include the date, state, and event in your email subject line as well. . This is very important! It's that simple! I will take it from there.
