Addendum: Mr. Friedman is the only animal (and environmentally) friendly candidate on the ballot for the important position of Texas Agriculture Commissioner. This office controls how farmed animals and wildlife in Texas are treated; and will also have influence over the the treatment of animals in public shelters (Mr. Friedman is a "no-kill" shelter advocate).

Mr. Friedman has a life-long, proven history of social activism. Do not be deluded because he has made a living as a humorist. He is a serious candidate and he WILL make a difference for animals, but only if we elect him. That means each and every one of us, who cares about animals (and the environment), must vote. Your vote matters as only a few votes are likely to decide the election. Mr. Friedman's opponent (Hank Gilbert) is not an animal advocate. If Mr. Gilbert is elected, it will be business as

usual for horrendously abusive factory farming and unfettered hunting. Only your taking action can stop this from happening.

When voting, you must ask for a DEMOCRATIC ballot, as this is a primary election so you must choose in which party you will vote.

Friday, February 26 is the last day of early voting. The next and final opportunity you will have to vote and make a major difference for the animals is March 2. Please do not allow this singular opportunity to make a difference for the animals of Texas slip from our grasp. Please cross post this message. Thank you. Margaret VOTE FOR TEXAS ’ FIRST ANIMAL FRIENDLY AGRICULTURAL COMMISSIONER

PLEASE VOTE MARCH 2

(as this is the primary, you must ask for a Democratic ballot, not a Republican ballot)

for

Richard “Kinky†Friedman

Commissioner of Agriculture "Common Sense, Uncommon Honesty" Mr. Friedman is a serious candidate, running on a serious platform, which includes:

Creating Animal Rescue Facilities in Every Texas County

Supporting Renewable Energy & Renewable Resources

Expanding Markets and Ensuring the Future of Texas Agriculture

Mr. Friedman presents Texans with a unique opportunity to make a real difference in our own lives and in the lives of animals. Mr. Friedman supports environmental responsibility and extending practical kindness to animals, while ensuring Texas is an economically viable agricultural economy, now and in the future.

No other candidate has ever before made environmental concerns and realistic methods for bettering the lives of animals part of his platform. If elected, Mr. Friedman would be in a position to make significant changes in the way the environment and animals are treated in Texas.

Please make it a priority to vote. We must not let this chance to slip through our fingers.

It is only through the legal and the legislative process that we will ever truly improve the lives of animals. Even though many of us work every single day to help the environment and animals, in many instances the power structure stacks the deck against us. Let’s turn this around and change the status quo by getting out the vote for this important election!

For a Mr. Friedman’s complete platform, go to: http://www.kinkyfriedman.com/issues.html Mr. Friedman’s Background: Since the 1990’s, Kinky’s ongoing ‘pet project’ has been the no-kill animal shelter, Utopia Animal Rescue Ranch, of which he is the founder. Utopia is a non-profit rescue organization, which takes in and cares for stray, abused, homeless or aging animals while working to find them a permanent home.

Political Position: In February 2005, fed up with ‘ Texas politics as usual’, Friedman announced his candidacy for Texas Governor and launched a serious, albeit colorful, campaign. Although the final outcome was not in his favor, he revived the independent spirit of Texas and inspired nontraditional voters to become part of the political process. He plans to continue inspiring Texans and working for the people of this state as the Democratic nominee for Agriculture Commissioner in 2010.

"According to the Texas Comptroller, Texas has the 10th largest economy in the world - bigger than South Korea , Switzerland or Saudi Arabia . We don't have a money problem, we have a management problem. With Rick Perry we have nearly a decade of misplaced priorities and a total lack of common sense. Our campaign is about honest leadership and practical, common sense solutions to problems that affect every Texas family. Texas can do anything we set as a priority."
