Guest guest
Lynda, welcome! I share your pain; or should I say, I share your shame. I too am lazy and tend not to prepare long-term. Therefore, it is tempting to just grab and eat, be it not vegan or just not healthy. Some of the easiest receips I have found come from a John McDougall. You can consider his reasonings or not. They make perfect sense for health and veganism, although they are nowadays wrapped in such commercialism as to make them suspect, even though they haven't changed. You know how it goes with anything; sooner or later you have to support the business you've made of your convictions. That aside, he and his wife seem to gravitate toward the foods that are most attainable for most of us not blessed with large natural markets or specialty food stores nearby and the instructions all seem very easy to follow. Here is a site where quite a number of these are collected, but a Google search will bring up plenty more, I'm sure. Good luck! http://members.tripod.com/~susang2/mwlp.htm - karmalynda Sunday, November 14, 2004 6:11 PM Hi, I'm new Hi, I'm new here. My name's Lynda and I've been trying (struggling) to maintain a vegan way of life for a while now. My biggest problem is that I'm kind of lazy and I don't plan ahead very well, so when I get hungry I just stuff something in my mouth, whether it's vegan or not. I'm hoping to correct that, and the more interesting and fairly easy recipes I can find, the easier my task will be.I'm looking forward to being part of this group.Lynda

Guest guest
I'm new to this group, but have been working on step one for a few weeks. i don't cook much, so i not only need to learn to cook, but to cook vegitarian style. i have no clue on how to prepare tofu or what kind to get for that matter...isn't there different textures? kim

Could you perhaps check out some vegetarian cookbooks from the library and maybe find one that you like and then we can help you adapt the recipes to be program friendly? Also, there are many great vegetarian websites on the net where you can get a lot of info on tofu and other stuff. Have you checked out the program friendly vegetarian recipes on the main radiant recovery site? Glad you joined us. Mika
Guest guest
> How's it going? What do you have for breakfast? it's going well, thanks. i have to say that i've eaten porkroll recently (i know that's not vegitarian, but the only "meat" i can stand). but in my typical breakfast, i eat eggs, cheese and turkey bacon on a slice of toast or a shake with protein powder, pb, and pb on a slice of toast. >Could you perhaps check out some vegetarian cookbooks from the library and maybe find one that you like and then we can help you adapt the recipes to be program friendly? i could do that. when you say program friendly, do you mean cut out any sugar in the receipe? thanks for the tip...i'll google "vegitarian recipes" and see what i can find. no, i didn't check out the main radiant recovery website for vegitarian meals. can you send me a link? thanks, kim On Behalf Of mikaTuesday, February 21, 2006 10:28 AM Subject: Re: Hi, i'm newHello Kim and welcome >I'm new to this group, but have been working on step one for a few>weeks. That's great. Guest guest
Hi Kim, Your breakfast sounds great. Are you having it within the hour of waking up and with enough protein for your weight? Don't worry about pork-rolls, you don't have to be a strict vegetarian to be part of this group. > when you say program friendly, do you mean cut out any sugar in the receipe? No, you don't have to do that yet. That is Step 6, we'll worry about that later. <smile> I meant this: as you slowly progress in your steps towards step 3, it would perhaps be handy to learn to cook some program friendly meals that you like beforehand, so you don't feel overwhelmed later -- learning to cook as well as baby-stepping through step 3. By program friendly I mean balanced (carbs + enough protein for your weight), not sugar free. no, i didn't check out the main radiant recovery website for vegitarian meals. can you send me a link? http://www.radiantrecovery.com/recipes.htm There are many yummy and program friendly vegetarian recipes there. Hope you'll like some of them. Mika

Guest guest
I would say that when we post recipes they should be program friendly... meaning no sugar. The reason for that is there are tons of resources out there for recipes that DO have sugar, but very few without, and since we are a place of sugar-addiction, well, you get the point LOLOL.. thanks for posting that link, Mika! Guest guest
Hey Heather I must have not expressed myself well, because I meant to say Kim didn't need to worry about recipes being sugar-free before step 6, just balanced. It was not my intention to suggest it was OK to post recipes that include sugar. <smile> I guess that's the side-effect of English not being my first language. Guest guest
Oh silly, could've been a side-effect of the fact I'm sick and maybe didn't read your note clearly!
