Guest guest
Hello everyone, I am on step 1 at the moment and want to make sure I am getting it right. This morning I had a bean burito (without cheese), but was able to tell that is wasn't enough protein. Was into sweets for the rest of the day. I was wondering what is generally considered to be a complex carbohydrate. I understand that if I have lentils, beans or tofu as a protein I still need to add a carbohydrate. Would potatoes (white with skin, sweet potato) or vegetables(e.g. brokkoli, carrots, green leafy etc.) in general be sufficient? I can understand that tofu is not a good source of carbohydrates, but beans certainly not only provide the protein but also complex carbohydrates. I need to eat about 22 grams of protein with each meal, but find one cup of beans with vegetables ( I am a big vegetable eater) is already quite a bit to eat for me. Thank you very much for any suggestions! Christine
Guest guest
Hi Christine, I’m so glad you are committed to getting breakfast right . Veggies are not considered browns, they are considered greens. But potatos with skin or sweet potatos are considered browns. Any of you vegetarians out there have suggestions for Christine’s breakfast? Guest guest
If you could get a whole grain tortilla for your burrito, that could be your " brown " (complex carb). Or instead of a burrito, you could have beans, brown rice, and veggies (with the brown rice as your brown). Adding some cheese to your beans is an easy way to up the protein. You could also add an egg to your meal if you're not vegan. It may feel like a lot to eat in the beginning, but once you start eating the right amount at meals, you will find yourself eating fewer sweets. Guest guest
- Hi Christine, I know that I'm a bit behind with my reply and perhaps you have found a solution by now. It took me ages to find a BF which suits me. It happens to be brown rice , vege protein powder, ricemilk and peanut butter. I mix it all together and top it with a little bit of fruit. May be you'd rather have a savory BF, but I thought I post this anyway. Good luck Yours Sabine -- In , " Christine " <cheinema wrote: > > Hello everyone, > > I am on step 1 at the moment and want to make sure I am getting it > right.
