Guest guest
> And I assume they are a " starter-food " in becoming vegetarian. I would disagree. I've been vegetarian for ten years, and I definitely don't need anything in my meals to resemble meat in order to feel I've eaten well; 99 out of 100 of my meals don't include mock meat. But I always liked the taste and aroma of meat, and still do; why should I not then have the occasional veggieburger, veggiedog or mock-bacon product? Becoming a happy longterm vegetarian doesn't necessarily mean coming to dislike or reject the _flavor_ of meat; it can just mean getting it less often, and from non-meat foods. Guest guest
Probably because you have been a vegetarian for over ten years! What I meant is, that quite often, people who start being vegetarians, don't really know yet how to compose a meal. It is actually taking the meat off the plate and replacing it with something before they realize, that an entire meal based on vegetables is a main course and not a side dish. And there is a tendency to use meat substitutes more often in order to make up for the empty place on the plate. About the taste of meat, well! I agree with Paul McCartney who once said: " Bite on the inside of your cheeks. That is, what meat tastes like " . And that is again where the artificial stuff comes in. Which is actually not taste, but odours. Smells like it tastes.. Gabriella , raincrone@j... wrote: > > And I assume they are a " starter-food " in becoming vegetarian. > > I would disagree. Guest guest
I'm in the step six class, and I've discovered that Quorn Patties, Boca sausages, and Nate's Meatless Meatballs all contain either whites or sugars. Just a heads-up. I'm kinda bummed about it
Guest guest
Add White Wave Chicken Style Wheat Meat (seitan) to the list, too. Guest guest
Jeanne, Being a relatively new Veggie we use a lot of Quorn and TVP products. It is a good adjustment for our kids 11 and 6 years old to make the adjustment but as time goes by I would like to have more meals closer to the earth with beans and tofu. It tends to always feel like fast food around here so now we have limited any " ckn " patty or burgers to once a week. =^.^= Steph Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Search.
