Guest guest
Hi Noelle! I am vegan, and I do not take a bunch of suppliements but I do make sure the foods i eat are vitamin rich. I eat mostly organic. and use redstar Nutitional yeast for my B complex mainly b-12 (which if your gonna supliment that is the main vitamin due to how scupiously clean our food is compared to the olden days when are species got its b-12 from the friendly bacteria on dirty food, now a days it's just not safe to rely on dirty food) I live in sunny california so the vitamin D I get from the sun walking across parking lots to the store from my car. I also like (even though this is a vitimin lacking from nonvegan diets) vitamin C crystals, I find this a handy lemon juice substitute. I had a healthy baby who is thriving on breastmilk and i'm in pretty good shape if I dont' say so myself! Guest guest
as along time vegan and health food finatic, I shockingly, became deficient in B12. My doctor did the test and I wouldn't have even suspected this as I eat extremely healthy. B12 depletes over time. I've hear of Solgar ~ an old boyfriend used to swear by them. i'm currently taking Basic brand vitamins, which are made right here in my suburban hometown, plus potassium by prescription. i'll see what i can find out on these, and make the change if necessary. ~cyd~ ______________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Guest guest
Cannot Retinol be synthesised in test tubes? What is the natural origin? I've never liked them as they sell cod's liver oils Just thought I'd let people know that Holland and Barret seem to have difficulty understanding what vegetarian and vegan mean. For instance, on of their vitamin brands proudly states Vegetarian, but includes Retinol as Vitimin A. So I haven't even bothered asking what Vitamin D is made from. Guest guest
I went in the other day to pick up some Scheese and During my browse past the potions I couldn't believe they're selling Shark Bone vitamins with little sharks swimming on the front of the bottle. I know it's really cheeky but I was so offended I walked out with my groceries without paying for a damn thing. I told a friend and she said she always does this, it's called undermining the economy of an unethical shop parading as an ethical one as the profits go to animal slaughter. She said she calls the shop in question Hoggit & Baggett!! W xx Angie Wright <angiewright wrote: Cannot Retinol be synthesised in test tubes? Guest guest
I believe Nature's Aid do a chewable kids' vitamin, and Holland and Barrett have their own brand that doesn't taste too nasty. The people who work in the health food shop should be able to help more , " Leonor Gomes " <mais1mae> wrote: > Can anyone advise me a good chewable vitamin complex for kids? > > Leo
Guest guest
Personally, I would keep the ammount of suppliments to a minimum if I was you, and only take them over a short period of time.Try and eat a diet that contains all the nutrients and vitamins that a body needs. Why take a processed green tea extract when you can drink green tea in the first place? There have been times I've taken so many different things (eg. multi vitamin, DHA, green tea extract, kelp, echinachea etc etc) that I rattle when I walk :-) At other times I've not taken any at all, and, to be honest, not felt any different. It's just hard to know what way to go on this one. They all sound like they do really good things... but I wonder if they really do. Guest guest
You are absolutely right, of course - I've just got 'lazy' with my diet after being vegan for so many years. Must make a new month's resolution to try and kick out some of the junk :-) S-Jpeter hurd <swpgh01 wrote: Personally, I would keep the ammount of suppliments to a minimum if I was you, and only take them over a short period of time.Try and eat a diet that contains all the nutrients and vitamins that a body needs. Guest guest
Hi Sharon, In general, we don't discuss Vitamins and Supplements on the list. Perhaps you may wish to Google this one on your own?
