Hi, everyone.

My name is Lisa, but I go by Lis on the forum and lists, because that

is what my friends call me.

I joined this list some time ago, though I am not a vegetarian. I am

starting to become interested in making some of my meals vegetarian,

with the eventual goal of one meatless meal per day (other than

breakfast, which is already).

I have read the files, which are very helpful. I have also read

several past posts, which have already taught me a lot and given me

some really good ideas.

I don't do that well with dairy, and want to avoid large amounts of

soy. So I will probably try to figure out some entrees using beans,

lentils and maybe cottage cheese.

I am apprehensive, as I love just being able to make sure I have

about a quarter-pound of meat in every meal (and protein powder at

breakfast). Starting to experiment with meat-free meals makes me

nervous about blood-sugar crashes.

But, so be it. I am curious to learn more about my body and more

about vegetarian dishes.

Bob, I would politely resist ever going in one of those places,

trying to offer other suggestions (air-conditioned Starbucks for

decaf iced coffee?). But if I did end up in an ice cream shop, I

would probably order a bottled water and that's it! My husband gets

instant headaches if he eats sugar, so he almost completely avoids

it. My colleagues and friends all know I " eat weird " , so they would

never expect me to get ice cream with them.

That's my story. I look forward to learning more about vegetarianism

as well as getting to know you all better :-)

Hi Lis,

I feel the same way you do about wanting to eat one vegetarian meal per day. And I can't have dairy either. So far my favorite veggie meal is a can of beans heated up in some vegetable broth with some veggies tossed in and some brown rice.

My friends, family and the people I work with all say I "eat weird" too.

:)

Hi, Stacey.

Whenever I see your posts around, I have happy memories of Santa Fe

and Georgia O'Keefe. What a fun and wonderful day that was :-)

Lis,

Ditto!

I wish we could go back really soon.

Also, I saw you just responded to Bob about

your journal. Am I remembering right that you have a really great journal that

you created yourself? If so, I can see

how you are having fun with it.

Yep, you're remembering right. I like to use stickers in it, too :-)
