Hello, I've just started reading the posts and this looks like a great

group! I'm just beginning the SARP program, after several years

of 'thinking about it'. I'm still working Steps 1 and 2, and trying to

eat 20+g of protein at each meal. This is MUCH more protein than I'm

used to eating, and I'm doing okay for breakfast and lunch, but dinner

is usually... pasta!

Anyhow, I'm a semi-vegetarian -- I'll eat chicken and turkey as long

as it's free-range, and fish. I usually have a shake for breakfast and

that seems to work well. I'll look forward to learning about more

veggie food options from this list. Lentils and beans tend to work

havoc on my digestion -- any suggestions??

Thanks for this resource. It's great to be able to ask questions, and

it's really inspiring to hear the success stories!

Cheers,

Cindy

Hi Cindy. Welcome!

I also tend to have problems with beans, if I eat them too often. If I cook

them myself, I have fewer problems. I use the method where you put them in

water, bring it to a boil, cover and turn the burner off, then soak the beans

for a few hours. Then drain well, add more water and cook. That method is

supposed to reduce gas. You can also put a piece of kombu (a dried seaweed that

you can find at places like Whole Foods) in the cooking water. Have you tried

Beano or digestive enzymes?
