Guest guest
Last night I learned that PF Chang's will substitute tofu for any meat dish on their menu, and they will also add tofu to any dish you request (like to a veggie dish). As they also serve brown rice, this news bumps them way up on my list of places to eat. If only they weren't so crowded all the time... Guest guest
Sharon, I had no idea, thanks for sharing this! And I’m delighted to hear they serve brown rice, that’s so hard to find. I used to go to a Lebanese place that had brown rice and one day, it was only white. I haven’t been back since. Guest guest
Sharon, Yeh, PF Changs is a real good option. I almost alway's get the mixed veggy's and tofu of course with Brown Rice (nice!!!). The tofu they use is a firm and tastes really good. I also like to add a little hot mustard, just to confirm I'm alive (LOL). I've been to the location(s) in Manhattan Beach, Sherman Oaks, Washington DC, and the new one in Hawaii, they were all good. Enjoy, Bob , Sharon Wylie <swylie2002 wrote: > > Last night I learned that PF Chang's will substitute tofu for any meat dish on their menu, and they will also add tofu to any dish you request (like to a veggie dish). Guest guest
It's a middle eastern cuisine. Quite tasty, a lot of slow cooked dishes, a lot of garlic and onions. Typical dishes are probably not unknown to you, like hummus, tabouleh, falafel and baba ganouj (are any of those familiar?). Lentil dishes, fava bean dishes. The Lebanese place near me had a wide variety of vegetarian dishes, too. A lot of things are seasoned before they hit the table with olive oil, lemon juice, and sumac (it's sorta tangy). Guest guest
Thanks for the tip. What do you order that does not have sugar? I haven't been to a P.F. Changs in a long time, but I remember liking their food a lot. I've avoided it because I've just assumed that there was nothing there I could eat. Guest guest
First off, I always have the vegetarian lettuce wraps as an appetizer. They make the sauce right at your table: it's a combo of hot mustard, soy sauce, and red chili paste. Then I usually have the ma po tofu, although now that I know you can sub tofu in other dishers, I should try some different things. It comes in a brown sauce that probably has some amounts of sugar, but it doesn't taste sweet the way a lot of Asian sauces do. I am not as sensitive to covert sugars as some people are. The dish also comes with broccoli. If you are really sensitive to coverts, you could ask for sauce on the side and then either use it sparingly OR just use the other sauces they have on the table. One of the things I like about PFChang's is that their sauces aren't as heavy as some other places, and the food is fresh and crisp, not soggy. Guest guest
I think PF Chang’s sauces have a lot of sugar. It just depends on where you are in the program.KathleenOn Oct 15, 2006, at 8:16 PM, Sharon Wylie wrote: First off, I always have the vegetarian lettuce wraps as an appetizer. Guest guest
Kathleen is right. I alway's get the steamed veggy's with tofu & brown rice. No coverts in that dish.... Guest guest
Thanks everybody for the info. Good to know about the appetizer and the steamed veggies. I am pretty sensitive to coverts and I've been off sugar for quite some time so I think I'll stay away from the sauces, but its nice to know that there are some things on the menu that are program friendly. Always good to find someplace else to go out to eat. Amy --- Bob <yogabob7 wrote: > Kathleen is right. I alway's get the steamed > veggy's with tofu & brown rice.
