Bob,

halloween was interesting. went to a chaotic party with at least 50

moms and pre-schoolers. DD and i ate a rice salad with yams and

black beans....halloween colors. we gave out cheap trinkets. took

DD trick-or-treating for the first time; she brought the candy home

and sold it to DH! tomorrow we're going to the dollar store to

spend the money. all of this as i was coming down with the flu.

slight crabbiness set in by dinner-time. so took it easy the rest

of the night.

today i've done nothing but sit at the computer (hence all my

posts!), eat well, and drink agua. i feel sick, but my state of

mind is good....yeah!

We took dogs trick or treating, then took them out of their costumes and took

them for a walk, then went to Starbucks and sat on the patio with the dogs.

Gail,

Good to know, it's ok not to observe it. I no longer observe the sugar/sweets

portion of it

thank goodness (Go RR).

Wow Allison,

That sounds awesome. Funny thing about dogs too is that they prefer protein too

(LOL)

over candy. I'll bet that visit to Starbucks was fun, wish I was there too.

Marie,

Just love the idea of collecting and selling the candy (aka not eating it).

About feeling sick (flu) at least you know that your body will heal and you will

get over it.

There is nothing worse then being " sugar stoned " while trying to fight off

infection, then

when your body heals, then you have to deal with the sugarbacklash.

I'm glad your state of mind is good. I'm glad Halloween is now over with too.

Get Better Soon,

Halloween evening was very quiet for me. I own my previous Little Black Cat (Elbee, for short) ....and NEVER open the door on Halloween evening, lest she get out. She has survived 7 Halloweens with me and I hope for MANY more!!!

I also have a little black cat, my second, and I make sure she doesn't get out either, although she is scared of strangers and usually hides somewhere in the house.

We had a fun Halloween. It is one of my favorite holidays; I love the focus on children having fun. We decorated our yard and windows with a couple of witch figures, then set up a cauldron on the porch. My significant other kept the cauldron bubbling and fogging all evening with dry ice, and we hid a CD player in the bushes playing spooky sounds. I dressed up as a witch to answer the door. I gave out small bags of chips this year. I can't bring myself to give out small plastic toys as it just seems so wasteful, and the year I handed out peanuts and pretzels...well, I felt like a fuddy-duddy. I didn't feel conflicted about handing out Doritos, and the kids still seemed excited and pleased. Next year we want to find some floating eyeballs for the cauldron...>-) SharonBob <yogabob7 wrote: Just Wondering,How was everyones Halloween, pls share.Bob

I really don't like Halloween and since I can't feel good about giving out

sugar, we turn the lights out and go downstairs and watch a movie. Neighbors

probably think we are grinches, but we enjoy the evening.

We had a great Halloween. I don't really care for the holiday, though I do like the "spooky" part of it :) My kids are 6 and 9 and both decided to dress up scary this year. We went trick or treating on a lovely cold clear night up here and they had a blast collecting a ton of candy (which, amazingly enough, except for maybe on or two kinds, they have never tried!). We had made a previous agreement to "buy" the candy from them so now we need just need to decide what we'll do, maybe see a movie or go to a favorite local restaruant to eat wonderful healthy food.

The best part of the night and what we continue to talk about was this one house that was very spooky. These teenage girls performed this kind of performance art piece for those brave enough to approach the house. It's too detailed to describe, but they were jumping out from here and there and then one screamed the most terrific horror movie scream, and sent the kids running. They loved it! I love that it became about seeing costumes and friends and not about the candy. Heather

Heather,

Sounds like you had a really good Halloween. We also enjoy the other then sweets

portion

of the holiday and appreciate the spooky side as well as the Pumpkin Carving.

We also

enjoy seeing all the Bright Shining Faces of the kids that come to our house.

This year my DD went to another neighborhood to be with her 2 best girlfriends.

They

were knocking on doors for about 10 min & a child was hit by a car around the

corner.

One of the supervising parents was a nurse and went to help the child. The

girls were

upset about what happened and voted to go home ASAP.

My DD only got about 20 things vs previous years wth 1/2-3/4 full pillow covers

full. I

feel bad about what happened, but the smaller amout of candy was ok by me.

I enjoy the pumpkin seeds (LOL).

Oh, how horrible that a child was hit by a car! That does put a damper on the whole thing, doesn't it?

Gosh, I have pumpkin seeds still in my fridge waiting to be cooked. Sigh. I'm afraid it might be too late this year :)

Heather,

Your right I'd pitch the pumpkin seeds, might not be any good at this time = not

worth it.

I'd buy a pack and start again next year.

Have a Good Day,
