Guest guest
Hi All, I was a Lurker on the Forum for about a year, before coming out of my shell. The number of posts has been slowing down to a " snails pace " (which is ok). Was wondering what topic(s) you would like to talk about related to the Radiant Recovery Program? Guest guest
I am curious about high protein recipe ideas, and how the vegetarian diet may effect SS people differently than a non-vegetarian diet. Being a vegetarian is important to me so in my program I think of it as a type of Step 8, because I am still eating meat. And I think I crave it in a negative way sometimes, and suspect that a vegetarian diet will feel better to me on many levels. I was vegetarian once, but couldn’t maintain it. Guest guest
I don't know if having the extra or not, but I had the same problem with my shake. I solved it by adding in George Jr. That way I don't have to worry about if getting too much of the vitamins in George's shake is bad and now I get enough protein to last me until lunch. Guest guest
Hi Bob I am no longer vegetarian but was for about 10 years as well as vegan macrobiotic etc etc. Therefore I eat meat now because it works better for me and my health but prefer vegetarian when I can. I need 25g of protein. I am wondering what will give me enough protein and do i need to eat beans or lentils with grain to make it a complete protein and I assume I should do that within the same meal to make the protein then and there? Would love some ideas. Also I am doing a 7 day cleanse in Koh Samui, Thailand between Christmas and New year and will probably eat vegetarian for a few weeks after that so some ideas for choices there would be great. Many thanks Caryn - Bob Tuesday, November 28, 2006 8:24 AM Just Wondering - What Would You Like To Talk About? Guest guest
Maggie, Awesome having you with the group a BIG WELCOME. It's my opinion, the RR Food Program heals the human body for a lifetime (now how cool is that). Eating or not eating animal protein is a spiritual choice. Some people can handle a vegetarian way better then others. It's my personal opinion that it's easiar to maintain this Food Program as a Vegetarian vs. a Vegan. Getting enough protein as a Vegan is a stretch for me I'm 6' 2.5 " 225/#'s. Getting stable on the RR Food Program is the Top Priority. Perhaps having a Vegetarian Meal or day is a good way to start. Over time a Vegetarian Week.... Take is slow and see how you feel. If you feel the wobbles, go back to more protein... Were all here to help. Guest guest
Caryn, I understand where your coming from and where your going. Getting the protein is easy. Breakfast is the 1st step. Georges Shake is Awesome, I'd start with that & it tastes so good. Quite often I have Yogurt / Cottage Cheese / Oatmeal w/ protein powder or even a Tuna Sand for breakfast. If your not sure about the size or amount for solid foods just use the size of your fist as a quick guide. An all bean mixed with grains at the start of the program may be too much (too many changes at once). Getting and staying steady is really helpful. I do better when I'm stable and not overwhelmend. Regarding the 7 day cleanse. I can not recommend this... When I've tried these in the past they " wacked me out " . I prefer to have stable biochemistry 365 day's a year (smile). There is also a great reference which Heather assembled under Files listing the protein content of many veggy foods. Guest guest
Amy, I just received this information from Kathleen on your behalf, " most people use original and supplement the extra with restore so they don't overdo the vitamins " . I didn't even think about the excess vitamins, especially zinc. This morning I used 2/3 of George's shake. It held me.......but, I'll get some of the George Jr. to go with it and go back to 1/3 cup of George. Guest guest
Thanks for the info Bob. When I run out of the George Jr., I usually just eat some peanut butter and toast. A couple slices and a shake usually hold me over. --- Vicky <health4him wrote: > , " Bob " > <yogabob7 wrote: > > > Bob, > Thanks for getting the answer from Kathleen.
