Guest guest
Hi! My name is Christy. I've tried vegetarian, vegan and even the raw foods lifestyle this past year, but I'm finding that only the " dense " proteins keep me from wanting to binge. I'm on step 3 and am finding that the program really does work! For the first time in my life, I'm not tormented with sugar cravings. However, last night I sat down to a dinner of chicken breast, baked potato and green beans. The chicken was full of veins which grossed me out so badly that I couldn't eat it. I substituted a protein shake instead to meet the protein requirements but two hours later I was bingeing. Plus, my face is breaking out from all the cheese I've been eating. Help! I would love to see everyone post their favorite meals which they have found keeps the sugar cravings at bay. I've got breakfast down. Just need help with lunch and dinner. Guest guest
Hi Christy, I eat a lot of beans; I find them very filling plus I love the taste. Today for lunch I am having a bean chili: it's onions, tomatoes, black beans, corn, and green chile all cooked together. I sprinkle it with cheese, then I crumble some blue corn tortilla chips on top for crunch. For dinner I will have either tofu stirfry or a white bean soup I have leftover in the fridge. Hope these ideas help, Sharon in CA Christy <vm4him Sent: Saturday, December 16, 2006 11:38:37 AM Trying to Convert. Hi! My name is Christy. Guest guest
I meant to mention this earlier. One of my favorite meals is curried " stew " . I don't have a specific recipe, I just make it up as I go. Typically it has: Veg boullion (we like Rapunzel brand cubes) Curry powder (1 tbs per 4 cups of broth) black pepper, and a little red pepper beans (usually lentils) bite-sized chunks of firm tofu brown rice peas cauliflower add sour cream and/or cream cheese on low heat just before serving to make the broth slightly thicker/creamy. I love making big pots of homemade soup, especially in the winter. I just experiment and make them to our taste. I'm sure you could get a good, exact recipe in an Indian cookbook if you don't " play " with your food like I do, haha. The other recipe I really like is this: Pollet Aux Fruits( " chicken " with fruits) 1 pkg White Wave Chicken Style Wheat Gluten 4 cups cooked brown rice 1/2 cup butter 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper 1/2 cup raisins 1/2 cup slivered almonds 1/2 cup orange juice Cook rice. Saute fake chicken in butter and salt until lightly browned. Remove fake chicken from pan and put into the rice (which is hopefully cooked by now), *save drippings*. Add raisins and almonds to the rice. Add orange juice to the drippings, stir, and bring to a boil. Pour drippings over the rice mixture. Stir. Serve warm. I know this is a lot of butter but it makes the recipe work. Butter substitutes work as well. I hope this helps! Being vegetarian is easy once you get into the habit. And believe me, I never go hungry! Anna , " Christy " <vm4him wrote: > > Hi! My name is Christy.
