Detoxing Begins

Hello,

I'm new to the list & just so happy to know that there are other

vegetarians out there doing this. Thanks Bob for volunteering to run

this group :)

On Friday I had my last cookie with a meal. Immediatly the

cravings started for more and I remembered the hell of the week that

lead me to that point: a week where every sweet item " with a meal "

spiralled into relentless cravings, binges & emotional turmoil &

despair. From my food diary (mostly just observing in my head rather

than writing much down) I could easily see that the bad moods were

coming after the cookie (or whatever sweet) and I was/am sick of

feeling so awful so why bother? I decided to forge ahead & just go

for complete sugar detox. Yess...

I've built up everything in place: I've got the potatos, the

vitamins (zinc, vitamin C, & B complex), a great breakfast with

protein (shredded wheat with milk, protein powder, chopped nuts,

cinnamon & a half a piece of fruit), meals with proteins/vegetables/ &

only brown carbs timed out evenly throughout the day & the knowledge

that I need to take it easy & rest for this week.

Saturday & Sunday I felt tired & had headaches in the afternoon so

I just came home early, stayed inside, let errands go & slept or lay

down a lot. Today, Monday (back at work), which I thought would be

worse: I actually feel great! Not hyper sugar mania GGGRREEAAATT but

a calm balanced happy feeling. I feel like I have my emotional

stability back & the aches & pains (of withdrawal) in my body seem

(touch wood) to already be gone. I feel lighter and most important I

feel free :) Talk about grace if this can continue.

A few more days of acute detoxing to go however so I won't say

I'm fine yet. I'm a little worried because my schedule won't allow me

much time to rest until Friday but I'm just going to internally try &

be really gentle with myself while I'm occupied. Good luck to anyone

else out there going through this.

Hi Kathie, oooh, that sounds like the " hard way " version of detox, for

sure <smile>. My leaving sugar behind was pretty much a non-event, but

it happened gradually and I didn't do it completely until about nine

months after I started my program.

When did you start this program? And, I'm wondering what your journal

has to say about all this? ;^) ~Val

Kathie,

Val's right you might be doing this the hard way or perhaps too soon. What step

are you

on and how long have you been doing the program, we can help....
