breakfast/lunch ideas

Hello all,

I'm new to this group and just wanted to know if anyone has any ideas

for breakfast and/or lunch. I'm looking for some of your " old

standbys " that you always have the ingredients on hand for.

I am working on step #3 right now...was part of the step 3

group...but they sent me over to this group when I asked for meatless

ideas! I didn't know a vegetarian group existed!

I don't think I'm ready to eat " perfectly " at dinner yet since that

meal includes 4 other family members; breakfast and lunch are meals I

make for just myself. No one else in the family is a vegetarian.

Thanks,

Krista

In two years following this program, my two main breakfasts have been:

3/4 cup cottage cheese with pinapple chunks, whole wheat toast on the side OR

oatmeal with peanut butter, protein powder, and raisins

Those are my everyday breakfasts, and I usually have an egg-focused breakfast on the weekend.

My "old standby" lunch is usually a can of black bean or lentil soup, and then I add some brown rice to it. If the protein isn't enough, I add a cheese stick or a hardboiled egg on the side. I generally prefer leftovers though. :-)

When I'm super on-the-ball, I actually prepare a whole meal on Sunday just to serve as lunches during the week. For example, a black bean zucchini couscous casserole. Instead of eating any of it when I cook it, I divide it into four containers, and then I'm ready for lunch all week.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Bob,The owner of my health food store turned me on to Stevia as a sweetener claiming that it does not act like sugar in the body.  Has this group ever discussed Stevia?Several years ago a nutritionist put me on a "yeast free" diet where I had to drop sugar, vinegars, gluten, dairy and wheat "cold-turkey".  I also had to get rid of some spices.  Since I don't eat meat, I was left with very little choices.  I ended up in tears in the health food store...and that is when she showed me Stevia.  I wasn't able to stick to that eating plan for more than 2 months...I was SO cranky and hungry, although I did lose some weight.  I didn't lose as much as one would think though.  NOW I know that I was having almost zero protein each day!!  Ah...the missing link!Krista On Jan 31, 2007, at 8:59 AM, Bob wrote:Krista,A Big Welcome to the Group.Standby's:Radiant Recovery Shake MixTuna Sandwhich on whole wheat breadVeggy Stir Fry with Tofu & Brown RiceCottage Cheese & Triscuits.I'm sure other members of the group will have more & wonderful suggestions.Smile,Bob , Krista Diego <diegofamily wrote:>> Hello all,> I'm new to this group and just wanted to know if anyone has any ideas > for breakfast and/or lunch. If you eat dairy products, an omelette is a good breakfast. Or I like cottage

cheese and toast. Or you could make a bean and cheese burrito on a whole wheat

tortilla.

For lunch, I like White Wave baked tofu, cut up, and heated up in the microwave

with brown rice, served with cooked or raw vegetables.

Hi Krista,

Sugar and Stevia are basically the same thing. Stevia is a sterioisotope of

sugar. True the

body does not digest it, like sugar, however it has the same net impact on Brain

Chemistry. Bottom line Stevia = Not Good.

As Kathleen mentioned this program is all about healing, not dieting, which is

very true.

Yes, protein is key to working this program.

Breakfast with protein is so important. Are you getting enough protein with

breakfast?
