Guest guest
There is some ambiguity about whether or not vegetarians count protein in bread, milk, yogurt, pasta, etc. Can you clear this up for us? Thanks -Lynn
Guest guest
LOL.....Lynn, to be honest...I found found this issue confusing as well. The idea is to get as much of the protein in as *dense*However, most people on this list count it all and I decided to stop making an issue of it.The issue is not in the counting, but getting what your body needs to heal. Can you see my dilemma?KathleenOn Mar 13, 2007, at 11:19 AM, Lynn Kahl wrote: There is some ambiguity about whether or not vegetarians count protein in bread, milk, yogurt, pasta, etc. Can you clear this up for us? Guest guest
Kathleen, I can see the dilemma really well, because if we are not healing, we are not getting all the benefits of fewer cravings, balanced blood sugar, etc. I think I exacerbated my ss enourmously when I became a " vegan " . My version of vegan was the three Ps: pasta, popcorn and peanut butter, lots of fruit and NO greens (too icky). I am thankful for that phase because it ultimately brought me to RR. I would love to do more vegetarian, and I know my breakfast is all veggie, but I always feel more sated with non veggie choices at my other meals. In fact my breakfast holds me well for about 4.5 hours and then I need to have a snack to hold me over on my long work mornings. I wonder, as we heal more and more, is it possible for our bodies to learn to " extract " so to speak the necessary protein from all the sources of food we eat as long as (important caveat for me) we do it gradually? Like 1 meal a week... I mean coming at it from a place of balance. Do you think it's possible, or is it that we are all just made up differently and some people's bodies do that well while others' don't? Guest guest
Kathleen, thank you for this explanation. I don't want to cut corners but I'll just experiment a bit and see what works for me and what doesn't.
