Guest guest
Several simple items can help you avoid all the stomach upsets for your family.' 1) Acidophilus. Begin taking it a week before you travel if possilble. Take 3 times a day while you are traveling. 2) Digestive enzymes. Use these at each meal. Both of these come in chewable for your child. 3) A water filtration bottle. Invaluable for clean water no matter where you travel. If you email me directly I'm happy to let you know what I use and how to get it in a matter of days. Those are the basic things, you can bring some other homeopathic remedies that are a good support in casse of other stomach issues as well. Hope this helps. Peace, Laura madeline_killian writes: I'm hoping someone will be able to give me some advice on how to avoid stomach upsets while travelling down south. Guest guest
Madeline, <<The only thing we did do was drink water, watered down juice and fruit that had been on ice in the dining room at the resort. No where else.>> You've answered your own question! Camping/hiking outfitters sell drops/tablets to put in water to kill certain micro-organisms and bacteria, but that's not usually done on a glass-by-glass basis, it doesn't necessarily kill everything, it doesn't solve the ice problem, and it tastes icky. Avoid all tap water, including ice cubes! And remember that even soda pop is suspect (usually Coke or other sodas are produced in a restaurant by mixing the syrup with tap water at the bar or in the kitchen) unless you actually see them open the bottle or can in front of you. Guest guest
The Best way of protection is take with you some charcoal tablets, if you go somewhere and you don't know the quality of the food take some before hand and if you eat something that did not seem any good, take some afterwards, this is the best way to go!!!! Guest guest
You can't always trust fresh fruit. You don't know how thoroughly it has been washed, or the sanitary condition of the hands that did the washing....... Guest guest
Louise, I'm pleasantly surprise too! I thought it was a good idea, I didn't realize how well received it would be! I hope people find it useful! Please let me know if it is helpful to you in your travels in September! Thanks for the feedback! Guest guest
hi again, mosaic, i just wanted to say i just survived a 3 week trip overseas on step 3 as well, the first time i've been overseas for a long time ( & it's given me the travel bug to go again). it was definitely a challenge & i guess yes, i coped, just. i was with my with parents most of the time & they're very regular eaters & like to eat in nice places which helped. they were also mostly happy to eat when i wanted to, although mum started grumbling about how 'restrictive' it was towards the end. the funny thing was, she kept saying it was how restrictive it was for *me*, even though i told her i don't feel that way about it. there was one day i totally crashed out - i made the mistake of thinking i'd be able to eat the breakfast included where we were staying, but it was all plastic & sugar-filled ... by the time i got to food i could eat it was way too late & then lunch was late as well. i was a nightmare, picking fights with everyone & i was inconsolable in tears by the end of the day. it was a very embodied reminder of what happens if i'm not organised. nicola mosaic58 Thu, 11 Oct 2007 10:25:58 +0000 Re: meditation retreats hi Nicola you write " I'm so excited about the idea but at the same time, know how much I need to do this program & I don't want to put off progressing with it for another three months. " to state the obvious it really is how *you * feel and how prepared/steady you feel with things. In my own experience, step 3 was a *huge* thing for me , the most challenging of all. I 'coped' - only just - with a holiday abroad doing it, but that was only because I was totally in charge of food and times. And because step 3 was so hugely important for my BS/BE I couldnt have done a retreat without a lot more experience under my belt. But thats just me. Although I would love the benefits of the retreat, its always food first for me. Otherwise I would go to pieces. Now that Ive done several holidays, travelling, and different circumstances I feel better prepared. I would do a ton of research in advance, about extra shopping, food stores, etc, could you have a little fridge? or storage space in the kitchens? Access to the kitchens? is it a once in a life time thing, or can you choose to do it later on as well? Your previous experience of this retreat/breakfast will stand you in good stead! you did 1 and 2 brilliantly! mosaic , Nicola <nic_paton wrote: > > > Hi Leigh, > I hope your meditation retreat was great. > > > > > > > > I was interested to ask how the food was there.
