Guest guest
I have a question. I am new here. Ate way too much sugar over Christmas and have always known I have a sweet tooth. When I stop eating it I do pretty well but as soon as I start eating high sugar foods again--I am off and running with the total sugar addiction thing going on. I ordered George's shake and noticed when it came it does not have all of the vitamins that they talk about on the site. I went back to check it out and noticed I had ordered George's restore. It has 15 grams of protein and 60 calories. The other has 19.5 grams of protein and 150 calories. Could some one please explain the difference here in calorie content and how to use them? What cause one to have so many more calories--is it the oats? Thanks for your help with this. Getting enough protein and a good solid carb at breakfast is the bedrock of my day. when I started I just worked on getting enough protein at first. Doing a shake is an easy way to get plenty of it! Let us know what you figure out. Lately I have been doing a shake using George's Restore protein powder (sold in the rr store) with a spelt bagel each morning. I have been keeping steady at .5 on breakfast, have just started journaling, and have 3 meals a day with protein anyway - it's just that it is very hard to work it out with vegetarian bean stews etc. So if I am doing a casserole of beans etc I just usually have as big a portion as I can manage and hope its enough protein. I usually 'live' on fish as I can monitor that better. I was overweight when I joined RR, and since then I have put on another stone! No-ones fault but mine. I am now trying to get that under control as well, so reduced my protein to .4 - and crashed! When I first joined RR my sugar cravings went erratic and into overload, but they have mostly gone now. Any advice would be most sincerely welcome. Thanks Pat uk I was thinking - I know we have a few new members lately - and it would > be so lovely to hear from you. > > so dont be shy - you are invited to post an introduction, say a hello, > ask a question or if anything has got your interest, a comment. > > love mosaic > > _______________ Watch “Cause Effect,” a show about real people making a real difference. http://im.live.com/Messenger/IM/MTV/?source=text_watchcause
Guest guest
Hello Mosaic and Tina and all, Thanks for your replies. Sorry, but I can't find the " Files " list anywhere. I know that someone gave me the instructions of how to find it ages ago, but now I can't find it again, and I wonder if anyone out there could give me step by step instructions on how to find it again! Something wonderful has happened to me lately. I used to have 3 meals a day, (or 4) and could eat nonstop inbetween them! I thought that I was only focussing on breakfast, because I hadn't really started journaling - but since Christmas I seem to have levelled out. I have started journaling, got stable with my 3 meals a day, and do you know, I don't want anything else! It's wonderful. As for sugar, I don't want it. (Quite annoyed me at Christmas, because I wanted to eat all the sweet stuff, but I didn't need it!) The best part of it is that I am finally losing weight! warm wishes, Pat uk > lovely to read your post Pat. time flies doesnt it! > > Do have a look in Files .> its over on the left in the blue box... > click on it and you'll see a great list of vegetarian protein sources. > I have my favourites written on my front journal pages, so I dont > have to work too hard! > > I also have cup measures ( waitrose) so I can just scoop the beans > up, like a ladle, and its easy. > > yes Ive done that crashy episode like you - I joined YLD. Guest guest
Hi Lisa, I'm glad you said hello again. My experience of taking sugar out of my diet too quickly was like what you describe - I was craving lots of things and didn't feel so hot. Kathleen explains pretty well in her books how this affects our brain chemistry. Do you have anything Kathleen's written? An easy way to get protein is having a shake in the morning. It's definitely easier than eating a bunch of beans! Maybe that'd be worth a try Tina Thu, 24 Jan 2008 15:59:05 +0000 Re: New members - go on -please post!/msg from Lisarail Hi everyone, Just thought I would pop by and say hi. I joined and posted a couple of weeks ago but am not really into writing messages so have been quiet since. I am an Aussie living in London so feel I already spend enough time writing about myself to everyone back home. Though this is talking about my self in a different way. Anyway I am still plodding along, focusing on my breakfasts though I have cut out sugar from my diet as I couldn't handle the cravings and binges anymore. I am feeling really good about the no sugar but am kind of struggling with trying to get all the protein I need. It seems that you need to eat a hell of a lot of beans to make uo the protein and I keep feeling like reaching for the tofu all the time because I love it and it holds me really well. Anyway I am trying to stay balanced and not go crazy on the soy. Of course I am now heading to the one month mark where the motivation starts to wane a little so I think I will end up on here more to keep my focus. I also posted on the RR website about sruggling with cigarette and coffee cravings which isn't usually an issue for me. I am wondering if my body is craving this as an alternative to sugar. If anyone has an answer to this I would be really interested in hearing from you. All the best to everyone xx _______________ Climb to the top of the charts!
