Guest guest
I'm sorry you are right. It's just hard and frustrating! And I'm doing my best and feeling much healthier over all and isn't that whats important anyway? I think my acid reflux is improving also... its really weird. I often forget my medicine but lately I haven't even noticed it. Even if I don't lose the weight I think the choice to switch to veggies only (I do eat dairy) was/is going to be the best decision of my life (at least so far) =) K " artichoke72x " <artichoke72x wrote: hi kelly, it makes me sad that you would say that about yourself. please be kind to yourself. and remember, you didn't put the weight on overnight, so you won't be able to take it off overnight. be patient and stick with your diet and exercise. you can do it!! susie --- Kelly Pavlik <wantstolearn1 wrote: > Well I'm desparately trying to lose weight. Guest guest
>>I have never had a good metabolism.<< " The chemical messengers controlling weight and appetite are produced in...the hypothalamus...[which] regulates the body temperature, blood pressure, and heartbeat, as well as the metabolism of the fats and carbohydrates. " [ " Look and feel fabulous forever, " p. 106.] Without continuing to quote this source, the author, Oz Garcia, a former veggie, also suggests that eating more of the foods that control your insulin, glucagon, and cortisol you will affect the necessary hormones to partially resolve the metabolism problem. The best resolution would also include regular physical activity, adequate sleep, stress reduction, and (heaven forbid in a veggie group) a select few supplements beyond the usual types of vitamins. Guest guest
I am heading to his website right now. thank you! - o_ravonelle rawfood Monday, December 29, 2003 4:25 PM [Raw Food] Weight gain Hi, Have you looked at Dr. Doug Graham's site? He works with lots of athletes and recmds tons of fruit to get your carbs. More fat in the form of nuts and seeds would be helpful. Stephen Arlin is a weight lifter and has much info on raw food diet. You just may not be eating enough carbs and fat. Nina

Guest guest
Could it be that you ingested far more salty food than you are used to and retained water? jim -------------- Original message -------------- Ok can some one out there tell me how it is possiable to gain 10lbs in 2 days eating cooked foods? I have been Raw for nearley 2 mo now and this passed two weeks have been really hard for me. Why I don't quite know, any way I gave in to the cooked food devil and ate two cooked meals over 2 days, and I gained 10lbs...could it be water weight or what? Any input would be great... Thanks Tanya
Guest guest
That's definitely a possibility. However, it's also possible that the weight gain is due to a lack of water, the water that is naturally in foods. When food is cooked, the heat not only breaks down the structure of the foods, but it evaporates the water out that is naturally found in raw food. Raw food, in its natural state, has water, some more than others of course. If we eat raw, we get full, yet a lot of what we've eaten is water, which goes through us. When food is cooked, it becomes very concentrated, since it lacks liquid, and so when we eat cooked food we eat a lot more, and it stays on us as weight. I was just reading a couple of days ago about how cooked food has too much of the things we don't want--too much protein, which is harmful; too much fat, which is also not desirable- -it's all concentrated in cooked food. Also, we tend to eat so much more of cooked, processed food, since the nutrients are not there, and our bodies keep eating to try to get nourished. Another thought is that as we continue on the raw path, our assimilation improves, and whatever we eat stays on us much more than it used to. Often when people go raw vegan, and they are not eating a ton of fattening things, they become ultra skinny, because they are not absorbing much of what they eat. As they continue eating raw vegan, especially a diet rich in fresh raw fruits, leafy greens, with a bit of nuts/edible seeds, and the body cleanses and heals, the body begins to assimilate very efficiently, so we don't need as much food, and we begin to gain weight easily--our weight becomes a direct manifestation of what and how much we eat. These are some ideas I had. One thing I think people notice is that going raw changes our relationship to cooked food forever. Guest guest
Tanya~ I had the same experience after being raw for a long time, then suddenly eating more cooked (vegan/healthy) foods--I gained weight! ouch! blessings, Leslie
Guest guest
you did not actually gain 10 pounds (of fat), that is physically impossible. It is just water retention and undigested food, it will eventually go away. I've heard of it happening to other raw fooders who eat cooked foods. You might want to purchase some enzymes (with lipase, amalayse & protease) for next time you eat cooked foods - it will help you digest better. And stay away from the scale after the weekends! ~Alissa rawfood , " tanyadc2000 " <tanyadc2000> wrote: > Hello to all, > > I have a ? Guest guest
I can only eat so much before I am just too full to continue. I need to increase calories not in the form of more food but in the form of making the food I do eat more calorie-full. Like eating a salad with a high calorie dressing instead of a plain salad. sara , " Jo bb " <Heartwork@b...> wrote: > The only thing you can do is increase the calories you eat - maybe in the > form of complex carbohydrates. > > Jo
Guest guest
Put gravy on your mashed potatoes (I have a great yeast gravy recipe--let me know if you want it), eat yeast breads and pastas, cookies and pies and puddings. All of these are fairly high-calorie even when they're vegan. Sara <gagrip5 wrote: I can only eat so much before I am just too full to continue. Guest guest
I gained about 14lbs in a few months by eating lots of bowls of muesli( with nuts/dried fruit etc) and soya milk. I also ate lots of mashed potatoe with sweetcorn with vegan mayonaise and flax oil. I couldn't believe how much weight I gained, muesli is very calorific. Guest guest
Right, so I wanna start up some good habits as related to exercise before this process begins. Replace that fat with some muscle. When does this start, anyway? I mean, everyone keeps saying " it's coming " in this really ominous way, but I see no signs. I seriously out-eat everyone I know, yet was 1 of 2 people at my highschool reunion that hadn't gained any weight. it's a mystery. Now the idle curiousity kicks in -- how tall are you? I mean 119 lbs doesn't seem like much... sara , fraggle <EBbrewpunx@e...> wrote: > well everyone's metabolism is different.. i weighed 119lbs fer a loooooong time then suddenly shot up to 130..stayed there fer a few years.. now...ummm..after several years of bagels fer breakfast, many pints under the belt and a year in which i shattered my knee and got an office job..lets just say i no longer weight 130.. *sigh* it happens when ya get a tad bit older dang metabolism
