Guest guest
> PS: Anyone know of a good substitute for sweetened condensed milk? I've seen Silk " creamers " for coffee and wondered if it might be close, particularly if you thickened it up with either soy flour or dry soymilk mix, which you can sometimes buy out of bulk bins. But haven't had that much occasion for it myself. , Mel <crapartist0220> wrote: > Hiya! > > My name is Mel & I live in CA with my husband and 10 cats. I've been a vegetarian officially since I was 12, though I've never enjoyed eating meat. I remember going to McDonalds as a kid and pulling the burger out and thinking that it tasted much better! I also had some serious issuse with the actual thought of eating animals. I still have that issue, lol. My folks tolerate my choice, though my Step-Dad teases me relentelessly. I've had silly arguments with him wherein he's said things like, " Well, I don't refuse myself simple joys. " And I'm like, Ok, but eating meat is not a joy to me! Guest guest
Nice to meet you, Karen, and welcome! I really enjoy dahl too. I made some spicy dahl this weekend and enjoyed it for lunch at work today. One of my co-workers asked what smelled so good <smile>. It was perfect with brown rice and a little cheese. Oh, and a bunch of veggies! Looking forward to hearing more from you. Guest guest
I didn't add veggies to the dahl, I had them separately. I guess I wasn't very clear about that in my post! I made the dahl with: brown lentils, turmeric, salt, oil, garlic, shallot (because I didn't have any onion), cumin, cayenne pepper, fresh tomato, lemon juice. I put it on brown rice with sliced avocado on top. Some cheese and raw veggies on the side. Very yummy! Guest guest
FYI, there are also brown rice lasagne noodles available from Tinkyada. My health food stores carry them. Guest guest
Hi Cinzia Is Tinkyada a brand? Ill have a look online, ive never heard of them before , thanks for the info
Guest guest
Yes, Tinkyada is a brand. I believe they're based in Canada. My health food stores carry several of their types of brown rice pasta (different shapes). If you're in the US and have a Trader Joe's nearby, they carry their own label brown rice pasta, though I don't think I've seen lasagne noodles there. , " Karen Mc Donnell " <arwenavery wrote: > > Hi Cinzia > > Is Tinkyada a brand?
