Hello everyone,

I'm new here and very keen to learn from you all. Have already been

picking your brains as it were by reading lots of your posts on the

subjects most important to me at the moment - mainly how to up the

protein for breakfast as am about to start step 1.

Just a little intro: I already knew i had a big problem with sugar

before i came across PNP. I stopped eating refined sugar about three

months ago and have also been eating lots of raw veg and fruit. Usually

2 raw meals a day & 1 cooked.

About a month ago a friend gave me PNP and i was bowled over by it; it

makes so much sense.

Have noticed that my breakfasts recently have been almost all fruit with

maybe a few nuts, so have quite a bit of work to do there.

Also caught myself binging on dried pineapple the other day - much

better than chocolate biscuits or ice-cream, but still out of control.

Otherwise have been feeling very well on my current regime and it's only

really the pineapple incident and noticing my slide into total fruit

breakfasts and the confirmation of my sugar sensitivity that prompts me

to try the program.

Have also been steadily losing weight, nothing dramatic, but all my

clothes are now loose instead of tight, and am a little scared, as i

don't want to put that weight back on.

Many thanks and best wishes,

Jez

Hi Jez,

Welcome to the list and to the community. This program has been life-changing

for me. You are embarking on a wonderful journey!

Dried fruit is highly concentrated in sugars, although they are natural - it is

still super sugary! So it has the same effect in many ways.

But NOT to worry about sugar right now, the most important thing is step 1, and

getting enough protein!

Have you gotten any good breakfast ideas from the archives yet? My favorite

breakfast is either a protein shake or scrambled eggs with toast.

Hi Jez, welcome!

I did smile a bit when you said dried fruit! I was quite proud of my

healthy pre-pnp diet.... but I was a so and so for dried fruit, I

just knew where to get sugar 'in disguise' lol

do you feel comfy with working out your protein and the 4 parts of

breakfast? dont forget to share your favourite breakfast with us. My

current ( oops dried fruit crept in again lol) is a protein shake,

cottage cheese in it as well, and on the side for my brown a sweet

potato with salt and pepper.

Hi Tina,

Thank you for your encouragement and i do believe you're right, Have

been exploring the RR site and although a bit overwhelmed by the

wealth of info there, have also been inspired and moved by some of the

things i've read.

And yes re ideas. A completely new one for me is the use of protein

powders. I bought some yesterday and used it in my breakfasat this

morning for the first time and it was fine. and very sustaining.

I had it in what was more of a pudding than a smoothie - a mixture of

seeds, nuts fruit and hemp milk.

Welcome Jez!

I know the archives are filled with ideas about breakfast, but like Tina, my

favorite is protein powder in almond milk, you could mix it with your fruit and

have a smoothie. (:

I know when I added protein in the morning I felt so stable and had a lot more

energy thorughout the day.

Glad your here.

Hi Mosaic and Jess,

Thank you for your welcomes am going to try a shake tomorrow - the

almonds are soaking now.

Not 'comfy' at all about it, but hope i will be one day. I think i

get it re proteins, lots of checking protein content and adding up.

The complex carbs in principle too, and was happy to see in PNP that

sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds count here - had some of those this

morning. Also had some raspberries and a banana. So those are two

parts, the other two are? Help, i don't know.

Not quite. :)

A " brown " is actually a complex carbohydrate. So a brown could be oatmeal

(there's your hot cereal!), a potato, brown rice, wild rice, whole grain bread,

etc. I would classify walnuts as a good healthy fat!

you'll soon get the hang of it Jez. Have you got the new edition

PnP ? as the breakfast 'instructions' are so clear in there

also you could hang out in breakfast list to pick up more info/ideas

too

the 4 parts are

*enough protein for your weight

*with a complex carb

*within an hour of waking

*every day

It took me awhile to get my protein right and then you dont want to

know how I messed up 'within an hour' LOL anyway, ask any questions

if you like. do you know how many protein grams you want etc? for

example.

Many thanks for your advice and clarification. Unfortunately have had

a bit of a hiccup due to going down with a severe stomach upset

starting around tea time on Saturday. So i wasn't able to eat

anything at all for over 24 hours.

Today i really don't want to eat very much of anything but am having

small amounts. Had a bowl of porridge made with almond milk for

breakfast today. Nowhere near the right amount of protein (28grams)

but i'll work up to that.

My edition of PnP was published in 2001? My copy of SARP arrived

today so am avidly reading that too. Will check out the breakfast list

soon.

Thanks again,
