Guest guest
Hello, Today I am writing with a somewhat feminine concern. I have always suffered from extreme PMS symptoms and this is the first time I am going through them while I am in the program. I know that in SATR, Katherine says that sugar-sensitive women tend to have worse PMS symptoms, and I can definitely relate to that. After being pretty good at following steps 1 and 2, and practicing on step 3, I have felt at the brink of losing control. Yesterday I binged after not having done it in more than three weeks, and I did it mostly because during my PMS days, I constantly feel like I could eat a horse (or a full pack of cookies, for that matter). I instantly started experiencing the consequences of the over- eating (headache, bloated stomach, drowsiness, etc.), plus the mental distress and the mood-swings from the hormonal inbalance. Needless, to say, I would like to avoid feeling this way again. It is just so exhausting! And, after starting the program, I have really experienced not feeling sick and tired every morning, and that's something I definitely want to keep. Would any of you have suggestions as to how to go through PMS without going nuts or completely wrecking the healthy eating routine I was starting to follow? Thank you and I wish you all a good week, Julia

Guest guest
Hi Julia and everyone, I very seldom post but read every message and I really feel the need to chime in here! I've been doing the program for almost two years now. I started feeling the benefits of step one from the very beginnig but my really big surprise came after some three months on step 3, on which I stayed a little longer: for the first ever my period totally took me by surprise! There was no crying, no binging, no being angry for no reason... Now I have to mark my calendar every month to know when to expect it. Needless to say, my husband will be forever greatful for this... So my advise would be to just keep doing the food and PMS will eventually heal or at least get a lot better. Peace and Good, Agustina
Guest guest
Hi Agustina, Thank you for your message. I will try to stay focused and on track. I have been noticing some good changes already and I am sure I will keep on improving. Getting feedback from others who have gone or are going through the process is definitely helpful. I am glad to read that your periods are not as painful (in every way) as they used to be... I know I (and my boyfriend) would be very happy if that happened. All in due time. My very best, Julia
Guest guest
Julia, I too suffered from horrible PMS in the early days of my program. As Kathleen said, I ate a more browns at each meal and I also did some very gentle exercise. I found moving my body helped a lot. And other than, I just was patient. I had issues with bingeing and as I recovered I only did it at that time of the month and was eventually able to stop. It was very slow but it did happen. Even now I do eat more food and protein generally and increase my browns and decrease my greens a little at that time and notice very slight symptoms. Like I'm a little more sensitive and introspective. Jess CO
